I'm going to care for that. I contacted Brian about the patch
for HEAD (Zope 2.7) and applied a modified version
on Zope-2_7-posttraversal for a parallel version to 2.7
(for those who need it)

A number of people (myself among them) have use cases for a hook that is called after traversal and authentication, but before the target object is published.  Here's a very lightweight patch this does the job.
