Well, I don´t know too much either, but I´ve been using Oracle as an
application developer for some years now and ask my DBA if it gets too
strange for myself.

This one is usually caused by an invalid connection string, or invalid
lines in "TNSNAMES.ORA" or "SQLNET.ORA" (e.g. dos style CRLF on a UNIX
system or something similar).

Maybe I´m wrong here, but as you are getting an "ORA-something" (wich is
generated by Oracle, either client-libs or server but not by the python
module itself), dco2.pyd should be ok that far. I suggest to test your
connection string first, for example by running
"sqlplus user/pass at ora_sid" from command line. Then try to establish a
connection step by step from the python interpreter as shown in the dco2
documentation.
