 I have never heard of this. (Well, I am not a Zope insider ...)
 It would be easier to answer the question if you would have given
pointers to the article You refer to.

 Something which is actually working is to send XML-RPC via HTTP;
you could use it to programatically set up the properties of the
uploaded file object this way.
