Buona iniziativa! anche se credo che la content's manager guide non sia un
gran che', e' giusto per spiccare il volo. Ma e' qualcosa, almeno.

Se ti interessa la mia "convenzione" personale (sto traducendo - ho quasi
finito - l'interfaccia di Zope in italiano) te la posto. Accludo anche alcune
note esplicative che ho messo in testa per giustificare le scelte dei termini
che ho fatto. E' in inglese. Notare che vi posto le notes della mia traduzione
paro paro, e' un pippone di cui il 50% potrebbe essere utile - almeno lo spero
- e che tutto questo e' comunque *MOLTO BETA* e nella release finale potrebbe
cambiare.

First of all, we all have to thanks the Italian Linux Distribution
"MadeInLinux"
which is the sponsor of this work. MadeInLinux packages a RedHat-derivated
Linux
distribution which is targetted to Italian User: a distro from Italian for
Italians. They are going to release a very good and up-to-date distro with a
2.4.x kernel, ReiserFS, jfs and xfs in the first quarter of the 2001, and they
produce a very good Italian manual which is far better for Italian than the
Italian translations produced by other distros.
 
I am Marco Ermini, a long-term Linux and Unix freelance consultant with good
and
"on production" experiences with, from the others, Python and Zope. I used
them
in several works which includes banking and financial institutions, e-commerce
and non-profit web sites, embedded and gaming applications etc. I am the
author
of a "famous" how-to on creating startup scripts for Zope on RedHat Linux, and
I
am the creator of some wide-used Zope products, like the CopeLinux OpenSource
e-commerce product for Zope 2.2/2.3 and the "Banca Sella" and "Fast Pay"
connectors which are going to be quite popular in Italy.
 
Let me add that I studied English for a long time, I am very used to English
books, and English reading and speaking in general; if this is not enought,
all
the translations are reviewed by my sister, which holds a Bachelor degree in
three Foreign Languages and owns an "A" rating from a famous and certified
English
school in London.
 
Of course, this is not because I want to acquire some kind of authority: I
just
want to say that I think I was qualified for this work, and looking at it
globally
I think it reached a fine result; I put all of my efforts in this work.
Anyway,
every constructive criticisms is always welcome, and I personally own all the
responsabilities for every mistakes and glitches that you'll find on this
translation; these are all and exclusively imputable to me. DTML pages often
embed
the original English writings in a <dtml-comment> tag, so you will be able, in
any
moment, to look at how I translated them in Italian, and you may improve it if
you
think you are able to do it (and of course you'll report it to me, so I may
release your modifications in the next release ;-)
 
Thus, let me say that it could be very difficult to translate English
technical
idiom to Italian. Pratical experience shows that it's better to let some of
the
terms in untranslated English, especially if the targetted audience is
programmers, which are used to that English term. For instance, terms like
"Owner", which is common in Object Oriented technologies, is very bad rendered
in "Proprietario" or "Possessore": I translated it, but just because there are
no alternatives: "Owner" it's too cryptic for unexperienced users and I had to
translate it: Italian programmers are warned! There is a short lists of notes
in some of the main terms I used below.
 
In addition, there exists some bad traditions: "historically" English terms
are translated very bad in Italian, with strong fallings when there are the so
called "false friends". For instance, "library" should have translated in
"biblioteca", but it's usually said as "libreria". Really, I have to translate
"library" in "libreria", because if I use "biblioteca" no one will understand
what I am speaking of.
 
So that's all; here there are some notes on how I rendered specifical
important
terms in Italian. Notice that I used infinite tense in Italian - also to avoid
problems with "third person" issues.
