I'm using

Details:
on apache redhat 4.2 linux
Python 1.5.1 (#1, Aug 17 1999, 09:42:48)  [GCC 2.7.2.1]
Apache/1.3.6 (Unix)
& Zope 1.10.3


I've tried a few things, got some help from here, changed dtml files, learnt 
all sorts of things about apache rewrite rules, but I still have the same 
problem:

The "To add a new item, select an item type and click "Add".  " button on 
the manage page won't work.

All I get is :
"HTTP 500 - Internal server error"

I also discovered that other buttons on that page also do not work.

The URLs the Add button tries are like

http://linus/Zope/?%3Amethod=manage_addDTMLDocumentForm

etc...

my rewrite rules convert this to

/home/httpd/cgi-bin/zope/Zope.cgi?%3Amethod=manage_addDTMLDocumentForm

http://linus/Zope/manage

becomes

/home/httpd/cgi-bin/zope/Zope.cgi/manage

and this works.

I can force the various forms to appear by going to the URLs like

http://linus/Zope/manage_addDTMLDocumentForm

Does anyone know what is going wrong???

I feel like tossing Zope,
