Sound like a cookie problem. Are you sure you have cookies switched on?

On the current major browsers, you can switch on confirmation on
cookies. You'll be show the exact cookie contents of a cookie and will
be asked whether or not you want to accept it. Switch this on and try a
copy. Check the contents of the cookie, and let us know if you see any
problems.
