The above testjaxml.py now works ok :-)

doh. my apologies -> I had a sneaky cut'n'paste typo: x.sometag() was
indented single space. Hidden by a java-based proportional font editor I
used. fixed-width font should prevent this.

Now at least I can focus on why zshell is not running on my system.
