[Zope] ZPT: space in string

I got compile time error with

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;
charset=utf-8"
      tal:attributes="content string:text/html;
charset=$encoding">

I think that space is used to identify a new attribute
here, so zpt take charset as a new attribute. 

How can the space inserted?
