Eron,
I am using Zope 2.4.2 on Win2K and I have been pointing to the "WebDav
source port" so
this seems to be one of the issues.
I can now access a zope server using a url from another machine but using
http://localhost from my local machine will not work ( I use port 80)

What version of Zope are you running, and what version of Windows do you
have? There is a known problem with WebDAV & Win2K. Upgrade to the latest
version of Zope, and when you add a network place, use the same URL you
would
use in a browser. Make sure you aren't pointing to the WebDAV source port,
either.
HTH,
Eron
