I'm not a windows guy, but I seem to remember someone mentioning on this
list about an IE authentication problem, where it doesn't ask for user
authentication when it needs to.

Apparently the problem was in a specific version of IE (don't remember
which), and was subsequently fixed in a MS 'Service Pack'.

Have you tested this with various versions of IE, including the latest,
most recently patched?
