I did not say you should forget the SuSE distribution (I use it myself,
only the 7.3 edition). I said you should not use the Python that comes
with SuSE but build your own one from the sources.

  Beside the split into many subpackages, the Python in SuSE
  is also probably much slower (for me, it was about 50 per cent)
  than one build from source.
