What a strange notion of privacy...

  The status bar provides the current user with information
  about what *he* did or can do on a page.

  Whose privacy is affected by this information?


You can disable the status bar via JavaScript.

Fortunately, modern browsers allow to disable this
possibility as they have a better notion of privacy and
security than you seem to have (their concerns focus
on the user while yours seem to be focused on the server).
