this simply doesn't cut it. See below.

External methods are not developed from within the ZMI, but need to
make use of the Zope API, which is largely undocumented as of "now".

The Zope developer guide presents only parts of the API, and only those
which are relevant for product development, which is *not* what I'm
trying to do.

Dang! This way, you imho simply obstruct a significant use case which
is recommended to be used: External methods are afaik "state of the
art" for at least bulk importing data into Plone.

I do realize that the old documentation was quite far from perfect, but
it was usable in several aspects. Now you simply throw it away,
blindfolding everyone who is not a 10+ years native Zope hacker.

Please rethink your decision, or provide other ideas about how users
should work with this case.
