What is that supposed to do? Why would you explicitly set the
C preprocessor? From your logfile it looks like 'configure' wasn't
able to find the compiler. You might want to try 'CC=gcc' 
(but i would consider it wiser to find the reason _why_ configure
had problems in the first place).
