I'm trying to set up apache to work as some sort of a proxy for my Zope system. I can run Apache on one machine on port 80, and I want to make it work like a mirror for the Zope server running on another machine (and port). I have enabled mod_proxy, and have tried to use ProxyPass (and ProxyPassReverse) but it doesn't seem to work quite well... When I enter only the server name in the URL, the Zope main page appears... But as soon as I enter some directories or documents following it, Apache tells me: Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand What can be the problem? If you need the reuslts of these function calls why not use an external method. This was more natural in BOBO (no need to manually add the method at some other/external point), but this is in the end the cleaner way. DTML functions should be there for easier formatting of HTML but not to build complex program logic into a HTML file. Just my humble opinion, __Janko Hauser

- How to circumvent url to object mapping ?

I want to have a URL called say, http://www.webstar.com.gh/articles/1998/01/15/Ashanti_Records_Record_Revenu… which should map to a python method/object that queries an external database with the arguments 1998+01+15+Ashanti_Records_Record_Revenues Is there a way to do this with using Apache rewrite rules ?

We have a release of DCOracle 1.1.0 available at: http://www.zope.org/Download/DCOracle/ This is a Python DBI-compliant extension module for Oracle. This package is *not* a Zope Database Adapter (which we are working on). - fsimport recursion error or my error?

I asked fsimport (mostly unmodified -- I added a couple MIME TYPES) to bring in a directory of images and vrml files and just display the tree  <IMG SRC="/">   <UL> <A HREF="http://rosie.win:9673/RSI/fsimport?fsdir=F:\Zope\Data">Update Images</A> </UL> fsimport reads the file structure. The strange thing is that is shows each file with the file/image icon, but gives a + like its a directory. When you click on the file, it gives the ENTIRE tree again as a subdirectory. Thanks to all who responded: I recommend that the ZOPE installation instructions at: http://www.zope.org/Download/Installation/Binary be changed from: "...On Unix: untar Zope ./install -u edit access ./start ..." to something like Doug's suggestion: >The Linux download is a tar.gz file. - Using Apache&PHP3 with Zope

I want to use the IMP IMAP mail client, which is PHP3 based. Is it possible to have Zope serve its pages through Apache such that they can be recognized as PHP documents and run through PHP? At the moment I am running ZopeHTTPServer, and I want to know if it is worth trying to set up Zope to run through Apache.

- MySQL and Dynamic Queries

Before Zope sprang onto the scene, I implemented a relational database in MySQL, and developed a PHP3 frontend based on the PHPMySQLAdmin code. This front end permits the end-user to dynamically alter the SQL query without needing any particular comprehension of it. I would like to retain this functionality, but don't quite see how to do so within the framework of DTML accessing Z SQL methods. In particular, Z SQL methods do not appear to expose to the DTML a list of the fields present in the query, so even if I used DTML within the Z SQL query to vary the fields requested, I have no way in the interface document, of determining what fields are in the returned value. Ok, while typing this missive I received a response to another question explaining how to accomplish this. Now; can anyone tell me how best to accomplish an arbitrary query (i.e. absolutely nothing predefined) while still adhering to the overall design of DTML accessing Z SQL methods. Can I use DTML to rewrite the contents of a Z SQL Query? Howard C. Shaw III
