Accessing httplib from a Zope Python script

Hi, I'm a Zope newbie who's more familiar with C# than Python. I've encountered an obstacle and am unable to find what's wrong with my approach. In order to solve the problem, I have searched this group's archive as well as other resources on the web. Some posts earlier this month were related to the problem but didn't address it exactly. I'm trying to implement support for PayPal Instant Payment Notification (IPN). IPN sends a POST to a URL on our Zope server. I decided to implement a Python script to handle the POST. The first task of the script is to send a POST back to PayPal in order to verify the transaction originated from PayPal. To do that, I learned that I could use the features in the httplib module. However, if I have a crappy test script like the following: import httplib result = httplib.HTTP("http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr") return result Then I receive the following error when posting to the page: Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access HTTP in this context In my search for help, I learned that Zope allows Script objects to access a subset of the Python modules, so I assumed that was the reason for the error. In my search for help, I happened upon some articles about using External methods to access modules. So I put the "result = httplib..." line into function verifyPayPal, module ipnSupport.py within the Zope\Extensions subfolder. I then added the extension to the same folder containing the Python script. The extension has ID ipnSupport, referening the specified script and function. When I run the following script... result = verifyPayPal return result The following error is returned: Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'verifyPayPal' is not defined The same error occurs if I call ipnSupport instead of verifyPayPal. If I try to import module ipnSupport then the following error is returned: Error Type: ImportError Error Value: import of "ipnSupport" is unauthorized So I guess my questions are: 1. Why can I not import httplib into a Zope Python script object? 2. Is an external method only callable from a DTML object? If it can be called from a script object, how do I do that? Create top-level folder

Part of my product's job is to create a top-level folder. I can have it do that only when, from the management interface's "add function", I add it to the root directory. I would like it to always be able to go to the root directory, regardless of where its added. In order to do this, I need to access the root directory object, but I don't know how. What function can I call to return the root directory object? How do I integrate zope with apache

Hey there, I'm using linux 8.0 with KDE Desktop. I've got zope running on a medusa server at the moment, the one it came with. I've also got an apache server running and I was wondering how I can integrate the zope interface to be used with my linux apache server. I'm a total linux nub so go easy on me . ~Mosquito

Hello everyone, I'm new to LINUX, ZOPE, PYTHON, and this mailing list. I have a ZOPE server running on Linux and I'm trying to get my forums to work. They require PHP and mySQL both of which I have but I'm not sure how to install them into my ZOPE server. Any suggestions? ~Mosquito

Having problem with accessing zclass property sheets

Hi, I have a zclass with 2 property sheets named public and private, for which I am creating instances through DTML method using the following lines: <dtml-with "manage_addProduct[ 'xxxxx' ]"> <dtml-call "Newcommit.createInObjectManager(REQUEST[ 'id' ], REQUEST )"> I am able to create an instance with the above lines. I would like to view property sheet of that particular instance immediatly so that the users can enter the properties while creating the instance. So I tried the change properties using the following line under the <dtml-with> tag: <dtml-call "propertysheets.public.manage_editProperties(REQUEST)"> But it gives me an error saying Error Type: Attribute error Error Value: Public Here public is the name of the property sheet. For the Zclass I did install a view with name edit and method as propertysheets.public.manage Where am I making a mistake? dynamic form checkbox data

Hi, I have a form which has (dynamically-generated) checkboxes (from database rows). these are of the form: <input type=checkbox name="ismember:list:string" checked><dtml-var sequence-var-name> (some do not default to checked). When I'm processing the form data, the list contains data for only those that are checked (i.e. no list if none are checked, a short list if some are checked). How can I generate a list of boolean values representing the user's selections? I need to use the boolean value in a dtml-if in the sql that processes the form data. Zope Win32 service (was RE: [Zope] Binary Compatibility)

Lukas, It doesn't appear to be the case if you're running Zope under Windows. Uninstalling Zope-2.5.1 doesn't remove the Zope service, and when you install 2.6.0 the Zope service pointing to $INSTANCE_HOME/bin/lib/win32/pythonservice.exe no longer functions. Is there a workaround for this? (ie, a way to uninstall and reinstall the service). I've seen this happen on 3 zope machines, so it's reproducible.
