Why do you want to recode into DTML? I think that is piece of good code and much faster than DTML. read-only-database

utf-8 problem in Zope when using Localizer

Hi, because nobody in der Localizer-Mailings list react and I thinks it could be a common problem with utf-8 in zope, I ask my question here also. I use Localizer 1.2.1 and I try out some things and all looks great. After testing Localizer my next plan was to switch from encoding ISO-8859-15 to utf-8 in Zope 2.10.3 but run into Problems when inserting text through a MessageCatalog (object of Localizer). Here is what I do in Zope: 1. I add "default-zpublisher-encoding utf-8" to my zope.conf and restart zope. 2. In ZMI I add the property "management_page_charset" and set it to "utf-8" 3. I add a new "DTML Document" and start editing. I check the encoding in my Browser and it switched to "unicode (utf-8)". Looks good. 4. I insert html-code and some russian chars for testing <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> </head> <body> ...russian chars... </body> </html> After Saving all looks great in ZMI and also in my webbrowser. 5. Now I add one line to use a MessageCatalog: <dtml-var "MessageCatalog('Hallo Welt!')"> After that, all of my utf-8-chars are broken in my webbrowser. I check browser-encoding and it is still utf-8. In ZMI my "DTML Document" looks good. This line must switch something in the output-encoding in the internal page-render (I don't know, how to better explain it). Is this an error in Localizer or in Zope or have I overlook a fault? Thanks Patrick

UTF encoding problem w/ ZPT's (No, not the usual :)

G'day, So I've been working on this project for some time, and all is well. Now for the first time I migreate my product code to a brand new Zope installation on the production systems. Development and production systems are as identical as they can be. In this case, they both have the same default locale (as indicated by the locale command in the shell), same OS version, same zope.conf settings (default-zpublisher-encoding and locale), etc ... I use UTF-8 *everywhere* (My PT files, .py files, etc ... all UTF-8). The web pages come out UTF-8 ... I've even switched the ZMI to UTF-8. All works well on the development side. Now on the production side, I'm getting an encoding related error. Where I have something like: <meta name="description" xml:lang="fra" content="..." i18n:attributes="content" i18n:target="string:fr" /> The value of i18n:target 'string:fr' has always been a str from the beginning. Now, on the new system, it comes through as a unicode string! So I see this: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: 'unicode' object is not callable Since the i18n:target implementation is my own, I can fix the code of course, but now I'm worried this might happen somewhere else, and I don't understand why. The only difference I can see is that the file went through subversion in the process (commit -> check out on different machine). Anyone know where this difference might come from? In other words, how does the PT engine decide whether that value shuld be a unicode string or a regular one? I found this method on Zopelabs to get the contents of all ZSQL methods. <dtml-in "ZopeFind(restrictedTraverse(['']), obj_metatypes=['DTML Method'], search_sub=1)"> <h2>&dtml.-id; (&dtml.-title_or_id;)</h2> <p><i><dtml-var absolute_url></i></p> <blockquote><pre><dtml-var "template"></pre></blockquote> </dtml-in> Is it possible to do the same with all dtml methods? I have tried replacing "template" with "document_src" but this gives a mixture of part rendered methods and error messages which is completely jumbled. Regards Garry

Calling a ZPT macro, with parameters, from a python script

Is there a way to call a specific macro in a ZPT from a python script? how to fill form values name:int in javascript?

Hi, This is typically not zope question, but I does not find solution for this zopiness. I need to fill from javascript form fields with defined zope type: <input type="text" name="number:int" value="0"> and how to address it in javascript? This make JS error for me: document.forms['form_name'].number:int.value =1; How to write value into number:int correctly from javascript? Many thanks, JL.
