passing REQUEST.form to frames

What is the correct syntax for passing form data to child frames of a frameset ? I would like to pass form fields that is submitted to frameset to child frames. Is there any alternative built-in syntax to using an ugly construct like this : =& ------------------ Hannu

Java Port

Did anyone try to port Zope to Java (using JPython)? But why do I think it's nice to have a Java-Zope? - using Java classes with Zope - running servlets and/or running Zope as servlet - performance could benefit from JIT compilers or compile Zope as native binary (gcj) - portability? not sure if Java is more portable than Python ;) Smoerk

WAP/WML for Cell Phone Wireless Web?

Has anyone looked at using Zope to serve WML (wireless markup language) pages that can be read by cell-phones. I'm here in Washington DC, and it seems as if Sprint PCS will have this service soon. It sounds pretty good. If I understand it correctly, your phone sends out a request which is turned into a http request by the cell phone company. The site then returns wml (an xml doctype), not html, which deals with things like what the buttons do, as well as encoding whatever content you can fit on the tiny screen. So all a zope site would have to do is add a new mime type (not sure what it is), and serve up the wml rather than html. Using zope DTML and regular zope stuff to handle common menus and control of pages should all fall together. The only things that would have to be changed (and I don't know how to do this) are: 1) mime type 2) file suffix (.wml instead of .html) Has anyone looked at this? MySQL and Zope

I'm new to Zope and got it running fine with Apache. I've experimented with it and read quite a few "How-Tos". I've walked through some of the How-Tos and setup various documents and objects. But...I have yet to find any information on how to get Zope to select and insert data to a MySQL database. I've downloaded and attempted to install MySQLdb from www.zope.org The build worked fine but there are no docs on how to use it or I don't know how to look at the docs if it is embedded in Python code. (I'm new to python too) Is there something more I need to do to get Zope to see a MySQL database? Where is the how-to for this? Thanks, Jose de Leon

Problem using EMACS FTP to Zope

I have a couple of (I hope) simple problems using (Win32) EMACS ange-ftp support with Zope: 1) I want to use the '(setq efs-make-backup-files nil)' trick that's been mentioned previously, but being a total EMACS neophyte, I'm not sure what directory to put the '.emacs' file in. Can someone loan me a clue? 2) If I use ange-ftp to access a Zope folder, I get a nice 'dired' listing. But when I select a DTML document/method to edit, I get another 'dired' listing containing just the selected file. If I select the file again from the new 'dired' list, I finally get the document I wanted, but the name is listed twice in the path: once as a directory, and again as the filename. Needless to say, this prevents me from saving the file (even if I chop off the extra filename, I still get errors saving the file). Anyone have any idea why this might be happening? KnowledgeKit HowTo?

(this is a re-send of an earlier message I sent to Bill and zope.(a)zope.org. Strangely enough, zope.org's mailserver did not like the extra '.' ;-) ) I'm wading into using the KnowledgeKit product and have some questions. First of all, though, thank you to Bill for creating it. Second, let me state that I briefly went through the Zclass tutorial but don't understand all the pieces (factories, etc.). I installed the product as well as the example. I created my own KB and successfully added two sub-FAQs. I also made the following simple change. In the KnowledgeKit area in the Products page I renamed the index_html DTMLmethods that were in KBase, KBEntry, FAQBase, FAQEntry to the name "body" and removed the standard_html_header/footer for the method. The rest of my Zope site acquires index_html from the root folder (except in exceptional circumstances) and that DTMLmethod acquires "body" from wherever it is being viewed. This works like a charm and the KBase and entries have the look and feel of my site. My standard_html_header/footer do not have all the stuff to create the look of my site, which is when I made this change. Included in my index_html is some navigation code (actually, I'm current using the breadcrumb code). My questions are numerous, but I'll only ask a few here. With respect to this product, how is one expected to add entries? I know I can pop into the manage page and then I have the usual Zope page for adding objects. In fact, my navigation code in my index_html uses: <dtml-if "AUTHENTICATED_USER.has_permission('Edit', this())"> <a href="manage_main">Edit page</a> </dtml-if> which gives me something to click on to get there. However, I have two problems with this. One is the look of the Zope management screen is glaringly different from the rest of the site and allows (gives one the opportunity?) one to add other things besides KBEntries (or FAQEntries where appropriate). The other problem I have is that when I'm in a FAQBase the above code does not give me an edit button (in a KBase it does). I'd like to modify the KBase's and FAQBase's 'body' (was index_html) to include something that a use can click on to add an new item. In fact, I'm wondering why there isn't something there already. When you install the example KBase, it seems strange that there are these sample entries but then no way to add more!
