Hi! I have a question related to use of the calender tag. If I have this code:  <A HREF="/some/place/form"></A>  Then - is there some way that the DTML method 'form' in /some/place/ can pick up what 'daylink' that was the caller, or is the only way to transfer variables between methods to use forms? I hope there is a solution to this as it would be fairly simple then to create an appointmet calendar kind of thing. Greatly appreciate your help! Sture Lygren

By coincidence I was just discussing with Christian Tismer why I had jumped off the CORBA bandwagon last year. The eccentricities of vendor implementations made it difficult to deploy applications in a timely fashion. Here's an analysis of the OMG's plans for CORBA 3: http://www.objectwatch.com/issue19.htm Though obviously subjective and impassioned, I agree with most of what the author says. The OMG has abandoned language-neutrality. I was sad to see Richard Soley, whom Jim and I worked with 3 years ago, try to tie application servers, Java, and the OMG together. At any rate, CORBA's current level of adaptation is quite low, and now that OMG has become a marketing organization for Sun, I think it's time to dispel any notions that CORBA support is critical. Newbie question about proxy roles

I have problems with proxy-roles. I have a script like this one:       ... and I want it to be run by an anonymous users who have no rights to add folders. However, even if i set the proxy role of the script to Manager, the script will give the following error when used by anonymous: Error type: Unauthorized Error value: You are not authorized to perform this operation. Zope and Unicode

What is the level of support for Unicode in Zope ? I would like to develop a Zope application that can be displayed in different languages (e.g. Kanji) but can find no mention of Unicode in the Zope documentation and it appears that Python will not support it until version 1.6. ZMySQLDA install problem

I cannot install ZMySQLDA. - downloaded ZMySQLDA and put it into /usr/local/zope/python/Products/ (here I have ZGadflyDA, ExternalMethod etc.) - README.txt says "go to ZSolidDA", but there's no such directory; I assume it's a type, so I went to ZMySQLDA/src. - modified Setup.in (directives -I and -L) for my placement of MySQL. - successfuly run make -f Makefile.pre.in boot; make. The file MySQLmodule.so appeared. - typed python, and typed "import MySQL". Got this: Traceback (innermost last): file "<stdin>", line 1, in ? ImportError: File not found - Looked at Zope through browser, went to Control Panel. There is (Broken product ZMySQLDA). 1. Is this the correct way to import modules? 2. Where is MySQLmodule.so to be placed? 3. What steps are neccessary to make ZMySQLDA appear as Installed, not Broken under Zope Control Panel? ------------ Milos Prudek

XML/XSL - Intraware article

Hmm, I just got an article in my mailbox that was relevant to Zope. The developers at Intraware have been doing some implementation with XML and XSL. Their efforts show the usage of XSL to implement querying and display of XML datasources, much like in the way DTML formats with conditionals and iterating tags. Too bad their design is basically a one-off solution, or so it seemed to me. Also, the page designers need to know the names of the Java classes, and methods in order to build the pages. What's the approved way to write Products that will work with incompatible versions of Zope? Eg: how can one write Python code that will call manage_addDocument for version 1.9 or manage_addDTMLDocument for version 1.10?
