What is the correct syntax for passing form data to child frames of a frameset ? I would like to pass form fields that is submitted to frameset to child frames. Is there any alternative built-in syntax to using an ugly construct like this : =& ------------------ Hannu

too many Zope logos

I have noticed a second Zope logo appearing in some places (notably the Portal Toolkit Demo, but now also the www.mgmt-inc.com homepage, for instance). Since it is our common goal to evangelize the Zope platform, I believe it is a bad idea to have two Zope logos floating around the net, as this dilutes the branding effort. I think everybody should refrain from creating alternative Zope logos. On the contrary, we should establish guidelines for using the oficial logos, and post "oficial renderings" on the Zope.org site. In sum, we should all choose one logo and stick with it. By the way, in my opinion the Zope logo as displayed at the zope.org homepage is EXCELENT: it is beautiful, simple and can be recognized very quickly. One cannot ask for more. Pam, This is welcome news! Let me give you some feedback from the perspective of a Zope newbie. When I first learned about Zope I was quite excited about it, but when I started to delve into it a little further I was somewhat discouraged. Everything is in such flux, and it's hard to know what's current and what's obsolete. I asked a question or two about examples in documents on the web site and was told that they were obsolete but if I look at line such-and-such in the source code... My situation is probably like a lot of people's in that I'd like to get a handle on what Zope is and how to use it, but I don't have a mandate from my company to spend time on it. I'm basically trying to evaluate it in my spare time, and if it's as cool as it sounds then I will try to get my company interested. What I don't have is time to read all the source code and monitor what's being checked in and out. Like a lot of people who will be interested in Zope, I am new to Python as well. I'd be a lot more inclined to plow through source code, though, if I had a short doc that told me where to start and what the pieces are and how they fit together. So a couple of things that would be invaluable for someone like me: a) A big-picture roadmap, something to orient the newcomer. b) A substantive real-life example. Examples are always the best way to learn how to use new software tools. You folks are using Zope in the real world. Is there an example application that you can publish (i.e., source code)? Preferably this would be an example showing Zope's use to access databases on the back-end and handling e-commerce (credit card transactions, shopping carts, etc.). It sounds like you have a better mousetrap. Show me how to use it and I'll beat a path to your door. Thanks for your time. SSI & DTML working together

I have a project for which I use ZDocument template package (DTML parser) without Zope. Eventually I realized that I have to use SSI in my templates. When I ran a parser on my new template, it gave me a ParseError exception, saying "Unexpected tag". I do know that I can get all of the SSI functionality via DTML. Anyway, maybe it would be convenient to make an option, say, to leave the 'unexpected tags' as is...? I made a very quick and dirty hack to ZDocumentTemplate source which allows me to do this. However, it would be nice if a patch could be made by someone who knows his way in the Zope source code more than I am. Thanks. -- Sergei

Jim Fulton estimated that Zope 2 will enter beta in 3 weeks. In addition, Eric Raymond's mention of Zope this week (at Microsoft and in an essay) is further proof that Zope is becoming an influential open source project. * Jonathan Corbet pointed out that Eric Raymond mentioned Zope in his latest essay, "The Magic Cauldron".
