How do I sort on a dynamicly generated field?

I'm trying to get something like this going.  <tr> <td></td> <td></td> </tr>  I'm sure I read somewhere you can sort on more than just the fields available in a table, ie calculated data etc but I can't seem to be able to do it. Any ideas?

Converting a string to an int

Hi, I'm working with a form that allows users to enter quantities. Into a table. on the next form, if I use <dtml-var "_[Category + '_qty']"> I get the value from the previous form exactly as I had planned--sortof. I then proceeded to do some calculations based on this variable and was told that I couldn't because it was a string. No problem thought I, I'll convert it to an integer and I used the following code to do so. <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('qty', _.string.atoi(_[Category + '_qty']))"> However, when I access the form, I get a Zope error that says: Error type: ValueError Error value: invalid literal for atoi() So, while it displays correctly, it does not appear to be a string, or an int: what is it? I have wondered if there was some weird translation error working with the _[Category...] stuff, so I assigned the result of _[Category...] to another variable and tried operating on it with the same result. Searching for Missing Values in ZCatalog

How do I search for all objects that are missing a given property (or that property is empty)? The specific case is a string called "subcategory". Catalog({'meta_type' : 'blah', 'category' : 'top', 'subcategory' : <what???>}) I'm looking for the objects that have a category of 'top', but an empty subcategory... Thanks, Kevin

Hi, how do I get a simple "Hello World" type Python program to run under Zope? I've tried going over the documentation, but there doesn't seem to be any mention of how to do this. Specifically - where do I put my .py file? I'm running on a Linux box. Vic

How to replace NULL values in a database query

All, I have created a form which allows me to edit the contents of a database table. To create the text fields I use something like this: <input type=text name=blah value="<dtml-var column_name null="">"> The problem is that when the column is null, I get "None" in my text field. The the discussion of the null="" attribute in the DTML document makes it sound as though the special Python value None is taken care of. This seems like a terribly elementary question. Am I missing something obvious? hey folks, I just installed zope, and have a few questions... is this Gadfly Database thing an actuall db server that ships with zope? or just some sort of connection manager? if it is a database, can we use ansi sql to create/manipulate data and tables? thanks, Samir

HTML quotes

I've got a DTML document (id = review) with just straight HTML in it like this: just some text When I call it using <dtml-var review> it comes out ok, but when I call it from the parent as <dtml-var "_['child'].review">, the Zope returns the HTML code with all of the angle brackets coming back as HTML character entities. What's going on here? I'm using Zope 2.0b6 Vic

That was it -- I was still trying to get it on port 9670. The lack of messages on my DOS window had me thinking it wasn't running. I never did get a message that it had started serving HTTP or anything. Editing MySQL records from Zope

Hello Zopers Please let met know if this subject has already been covered. I have just subscribed to this list. Has anyone written a zope object(s) that allows a user to select a record from a MySQL (or other engine) table, display the contents in a html form, and update the record when the user submits the form.
