While I absolutely agree that the source is the best documentation, DateTime objects are documented near the back of the Zope Quick Reference which, despite some typos, should be within reach on everyone's desk. IIRC, you can find it at http://www.zope.org/Members/ZQR or from the documentation page -- I would check, but I currently can't reach the server... MIME types and zope

Hello, I am trying to handle a vendor specific mime type within zope basically it is the adobe forms plugin whihc encodes data in application/vnd.fdf type. It is basically an ascii stream set in a particular format question is how do I access this data coming from the browser the request variable does not contain information about this. I am tunning zope behind apache. Do I have to configure both to handle this mime type. Your responses will help greatly in solving a problem thanks sathya

Calling mxODBC from an External Method

I''ve been looking for a Zope solution (on NT) for Oracle 8.0.5 (on Solaris) and blob insertion in the last few days. So far I found that mxODBC is the only thing has full support for BLOB manipulation. I can insert LOB/BLOB into Oracle when I compiled my Python along. However, I'm having problems in integrating mxODBC package with Zope. After searching through the mailing list archive, I found a similar problem posted by Jason Cunliffe. By following to the suggestions, I installed mxODBC package and DateTime module under the Shared directory and keep my external method in the Extensions directory. In my external method, I do Import Shared.DateTime import Shared.ODBC from Shared.ODBC import Windows from Shared.ODBC import dbc = Shared.ODBC.Windows.Connect('user','password','dsn',clear_auto_commit=1) When the external method is executed from Zope, I got an error message "Error Type:AttributeError ErrorValue: Connect". It seems like Connect cannot be resolved but I didn't get any complain on the imports. If I successfully imported the module, shouldn't I have access to the connection method? Can someone please help? BTW, the directory structure under Shared is as follow: Shared/ | |----DateTime/ | | | -----mxDateTime/ | ----ODBC/ | |-----mxODBC/ | |-----Oracle/ | -----Windows/ Also, if I anyone has found a solution in dealing with Oracle blob, please share your thoughts. Newbie(?) Zope + MySql .. installation problems ++ ;)

Kindest.. I am having some small problems getting MySql support into my Zope projects. Here is what I get when I try to compile MySQLdb-0.2.0 .. gcc -fpic -I/usr/include/mysql -g -O2 -I/usr/local/include/python1.5 -I/usr/local/include/python1.5 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -c ./_mysqlmodule.c gcc -shared _mysqlmodule.o -L/usr/lib/mysql -lmysqlclient -o _mysqlmodule.so /usr/bin/ld: cannot open -lmysqlclient: Ingen slik fil eller filkatalog collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [_mysqlmodule.so] Error 1 Whoa, couldn't import _mysql: No module named _mysql Probably _mysqlmodule.so didn't compile correctly. Or your library paths may be bad. Check the FAQ. [root@new MySQLdb-0.2.0]# .. as for the installation guides on the www.zope.org archives; none have worked for me. Could anyone who's already done this be kind enough to share some wisdom! ;) I admit; this might be a good time to start learning Oracle, but then again; mySql fits jus perfect for what I am going to do! ;) Would apriciate any input. .. and you all have a nice day! XMLDocument mess

Hi all, i'm a bit confused with the behavior of the XMLDocument product. FSSession atomicity?

Greetings... A problem I appear to be having with FSSession. I mentioned it a while ago, and got a reasonable response. However, now I believe it's a threading problem. When uses log in on my page, I set info in their FSSession details. This info is checked in the standard header and it renders accordingly. However, sometimes a valid login won't produce the correct header. This is easily fixed by selecting any page and going there... Everything renders correctly then. This is why i think it's a timing problem with threads. Now, having had 0 experience with threads in python (and having done well to avoided needing it in all other languages ;) i can't see where in the FSSession object this problem might be occurring. In fact, the logic of it only holds because it's happening. Otherwise I would have thought the session details would be written as the FSSession dtml-calls occurred. Hi, I am interested in learning how to use XML in Zope. So far i have seen many examples of view XML files, and i even got several to work for my purpose, but there doesnt seem to be anything to 'appending' or altering an XML object. Can someone please point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance. - Lex Berezhny
