What's the > deal? we had the same problem and finally fixed it by changing the format of the sybase identity column. we set the identity column in Sybase as follows: create table IDTEST ( IdNumber numeric(9,0) identity ) With that setting the numeric is not a "Python long" anymore and the L will not be appended to the stored values within Zope/Python. Netscape Image Problems

I have tried to track down a solution to this problem for a couple of days. I have Zope 2.1.6 (binary release, python 1.5.2, win32-x86) installed. Everything is working great, but when I use Netscape 3, 4.X , every time I hit the reload button or come back to the page at a later date all of my images won't display. It just shows the classic broken image icon that is default for Netscape. I know that it isn't a Zope issue because the zope.org site works fine! This is obviously not acceptable to any viewer, could someone please give me a work around or a solution to this problem. Thank you in advance! j john(a)nurl.net

John, I don't know about STX_Document, but can you confirm that you can't use any other ZClass as a base class? I just tried this... You don't have to do anything magical with ZClasses to have them show up in the base class list during the ZClass "add" screen. I suspect that your problem is due to a bug that (I think) has been fixed in CVS. There is a bug in <= 2.1.6 ZClass add UI that prevents all the available base classes from being listed until you hit the "right arrow" to move one of the base classes into the base class list. Once you move one base class into the list, the addable base class list will be updated with all available base classes, including (hopefully) your other ZClasses. This is a silly bug.

I think the way you're doing it is fine unless you expect it to be hit a lot or it becomes too slow. If you leave the docstring off the external method, you can still call it from DTML, but you can't call it from the web. This only really helps if nobody else has access to write DTML on your site. I think you should probably make sure the function works from Python (unless you already have). Use an absolute path to the executable, as your cwd may change inside of Zope. Then when you're able to import the Python module that makes up the external method module and execute the function successfully, make it an external method within Zope.

Product availability

I'm having some trouble figuring out how to control where various products are added in Zope. I've added a Zclass inside a Zclass directory like product with the intent that this class is only ever added inside instances of the first class. Except that, ATM, I can't add instances of it anywhere. I'd like to be able to use the same trick on a python product - it has LinkFolderRoot, LinkFolder and Link classes, and ATM, you can add any of them anywhere. I'd like to only be able to add LinkFolders and Link to other LinkFolders and the LinkFolderRoot, be able to add a LinkFolderRoot anywhere (but see below), and _not_ be able to add a LinkFolderRoot to another LinkFolderRoot or LinkFolder (it all makes sense, trust me :-). Finally, in the best of all possible worlds, I'd like to only be able to add the LinkFolderRoot to a particular ZClass (the first one discussed, as it happens). I suspect this isn't possible, though. So, what are the necessary invokations, o Zope Masters? John

Adding product through loadsite

Hi everybody, I am trying to upload a ZClasses product through load_site.py, but can't seem to figure out how to call it. In dtml, I use the following to create an instance of the product programmatically: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('id', brandnewandunique_id)"> <dtml-with "manage_addProduct['TeiDocument']"> <dtml-call "TeiDocument_add(_.None, _, NoRedir=1)"> </dtml-with> I was trying to use manage_addProduct, as defined in Products.py, but could not figure out, how to pass the meta_type to the call. The ZClass product is derived from the XMLDocument and the files I want upload are some xml files. Any help appreciated! All the best, Christian
