help with rpms on RedHat6.2

I am developer who really loves python, and want to start using it to develop my web applications. I run Apache 1.3 on a Red Hat 6.2 system with python 1.5.2. I have had trouble knowing what to do next in my quest to run Zope. I installed the main Zope rpm and the pcgi rpm. What needs to be done next. I have tried installing zope a number of different times and in a number of different ways (rpm, tar.gz). Each without success. I want to run pcgi, so I can keep using apache. Can you help me please.

just thought people might be interested - this week, www.ekno.lonelyplanet.com had it's first birthday, and in the same week, it was migrated to our new Zope2 based platform (dingdong the zope1 is dead). FWIW, the following sites are all running off the same Zope installation: www.ekno.lonelyplanet.com www.ekit.com www.hiayh.ekit.com and a bunch of others that I can't remember. Zope rocks. Let's see: network lookups would fail, sometimes, strangely, signals would be delivered to _all_ children (not just the one that had installed a signal handler) -- so if you had an external method that popen'd another program, when the SIGCHLD came in, it would kill the mainloop. The signals were the really shocking problem. A. Heinlein. As I got a little older, I realized that it wouldn't do to start spreading humanity about the solar system without significant changes in the way we interact with each other, the way we work together, and the way we deal with conflict. This led me to an exploration of the basic issues, like why are we here, why am I here, what am I anyway, what is the stuff that existence is of, and other abstract playthings. I've come to some conclusions, but the most important of these is that I contend that existence is communication. Of course, I had already nurtured a love affair with computers, from my original TI-99/4a (with voice synthesis!) to the Original Macintosh, that had flowered into a typographic and guerilla publishing bent. Meeting the love of my life online, I moved to Portugal to be with her. The sysadmin at the place I worked said "hey, we've got this big printer, print what you like"- and so, over two thousand pages of printed standards later, I was a web machine. Zope was a natural: it mapped to my thinking better than any other web tools I've ever encountered. After I built one site with Zope, I was determined to use it to my own ends- but there was no Zope hosting provider to meet my needs: Thus, imeme.net was born. Life has taught me that communication and community are the two most important things I can possibly be working on. If you're running a Zope on Solaris2.7 and you're seeing strange behaviour, make sure that your python executable's been built and linked with pthreads, not solaris threads. I've just had a horrible time figuring out why I was seeing very strange behaviour on Solaris until I noticed this. ldd `which python` should show /usr/lib/libpthread.so, NOT /usr/lib/libthread.so. Ann: Squishdot 0.3.4 Released

Squishdot 0.3.4 is now available from http://www.zope.org/Members/chrisw/Squishdot/ It fixes the following problems: - Moderators no longer need the 'manager' role to approve articles. - The Suggested Author, Email Address, etc, no longer vanish when SiteAccess is used for virtual hosting. There are some other small changes and improvements. Lookout for Squishdot 0.4.0 in the (not too distant ;-) future which will hopefully use the new Zope indexing system. If you run into problems, remember Squishdot has a mailing list at eGroups and a bug collector on SourceForge.

unauthorized on objects which are viewable by anonymous user

Hello, my setup is not that uncommon but something is wrong. My root Folder is viewable by anonymous, so http://my.zope/ will be viewed with my browser. When I try to view a subfolder which needs authentication (user is defined in subfolder/scl_users) then my root folder and any document from there will no longer be accessable to that user. I tried to use a global CSS which made the error pop up. http://my.zope/ ok http://my.zope/cssGlobal ok now enter subfolder http://my.zope/sub/ ok http://my.zope/cssGlobal unauthorized and surprisingly now http://my.zope/ unauthorized http://my.zope/sub/cssGlobal ok <- this document comes through aquisition it's the one from root folder My root folder and everything within is viewable by anonymous (except the subfolder). What access rights should I give? Could anybody bring light to that darkness? I did read the HowTo's and manuals but didn't find any solution.
