Using FTP to connect to Zope server from (g)VIM

Hi all, My intellect was piqued recently by a discussion on the list about editors for Zope etc. I remember some people saynig that VIM was good, to which my response was, 'Yeah but there's no FTP built in'. Someone then responded with a few scripts to do it. Well I thought they were a bit cumbersome, so I wrote my own. ftpopen.py and ftpsave.py. If you have a VIM executable with Python support built in then these run from within VIM and allow you to open/save file from/to Zope seamlessly. (I have them on a menu in GVIM for instance) I'll put the files up on my Zope Members bit (http://www.zope.org/Members/philh) along with a few instructions. If anybody can think of any enhancements then please let me know and I'll see if I can work them in. I hope these will be useful to someone. See ya Phil phil.harris(a)zope.co.uk

Silly send mail problem

Hi all, I had a sendmail problem, whenever I send out a mail from zope, it always contain an empty "To" ,"From" and "Subject", but I was able to get the body of the mail, anyone got this problem before ?? I'm using Zope 2.1.6 on NT and the mail server is from Lotus, and the form processor syntax as below : <dtml-sendmail smtphost="mail.xyz.com" mailto="wai(a)xyz.com" mailfrom="wai(a)xyz.com" Subject="Testing from my machine"> mail body </dtml-sendmail> Thanks. ZServer Statistics

Is there way to determine how many (and which)pages ZServer serves? I am running ZServer as my primary server. What kind of statistics should I be looking for? For example should I be concerned about how long it takes to load pages, and how long users stay on a specific page etc? I am new to website management and would appreciate any and all suggestions. Using Zope DB connection from a Python class

Greetings, For the past few days, I've been unsuccessfully trying to use a Zope ODBC connection from within a Python class. I have the following situation: 1. A Python class, Order, which has this method: def create (self, cust_id, connection_id = None, itemcode = None, quantity = 0): while self is not None: if hasattr(self, 'objectValues'): for o in self.objectValues(): if hasattr(o, 'id'): if o.id == connection_id: self.connection = o self.cust_id = cust_id self.itemcode = itemcode self.quantity = quantity query = 'insert into orders (cust_id, itemcode, quantity) values (%s, \'%s\', %s)' % (self.cust_id, self.itemcode, self.quantity) if self.connection != None: self.connection._begin() result = self.connection.query (query) print result self.connection._finish() 2. A Zope class, TestOrder, which subclasses Order. Its constructor tries to invokes 'create', however upon executing the SQL query, Zope either dies and is restarted, or just sits there, doing nothing, until the HTTP connection times out. In either case, the new record is not written in the database. 3. Zope 2.1.7 Z ODBC DA 3.0.3 Solid dev kit 2.3 RedHat Linux 6.1 on i386 Please help. Thanks, Ivan Raikov

ANN: ZUBB (Zope Ultimate Bulletin Board) 0.5.0 Release

I have uploaded the update to ZUBB. Both the changes and readme are linked below. There are a few major presentation and feature changes but It still does not work with Zope 2.2. Cannot "uncheck" boolean properties in 2.2b3

In 2.2b3, after setting a boolean property to "checked", it will not save when trying to "uncheck" it. I reported this to the Collector already (751). zeo and rdb backend

hi i have a few questions about zeo and how it works (newbie) i managed to get zeo runniing, and i have two hosts serving one zodb. that's great. but i can't access some of the data that resides in a rdbms (postgres). i guess the db connection points to the wrong host since i use dbname@localhost username (for postgres). tried changing host to something else (host1 as defined in /etc/hosts) but cant change properties. zope said bad request. the same error if i use zPoPyDA. does this mean that i need to use zodb to use zeo? what should i do to use rdb for some of my data? i'm stuck and in need of help, pointers, docs from the great ones. help thanks -- ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.kedai.com.my/kk Am I Evil?

I can tell you what I know as of today. Linux has this limitation as of today. At least all the variants I have come over (mostly Red Hat and Suse). The limitation is in the filesystem implementation itself; meaning that the number of "references" that can be created cannot exceed the address limit of 2gb. Solaris does not have this limitation and neither does Hp-Ux or SGI Irix. I know previous versions of SunOS (v4.x) had the same limitation as linux is experiencing today. Though.. there are ways "around" the problem. Though; all different over the variuos unix versions as of today. When running Zope you really don't have much choice on linux. When you hit the 2gb barrier .. you have problems. I have not tried it .. but as I can recall there was a product for Zope that made it possible to "mount" several databases at once .. though it was beta. .. this might solve a problem .. and would from my point of view be a nice way to go. This way; the administrator of the system also have some choices as to where he want to put his data. Then you can move certain object databases to fast storage .. and so forth. .. so; if you have those problems; get Solaris v7/v8 for Intel (or if you can afford it-> sparc!) .. and run Zope of that. I do so .. but then again; I am not near the 2gb barrier that many people have come over. ;) .. on the other hand; I am not aware of the various "beta" filesystem implementations and kernel "to-do"'s for linux, but I suspect that it will not be long before that problem is solved. .. oh! When I think of it.. SGI has ported their XFS to linux.
