Your feedback: what should DateTime strftime() behavior be?

Hi all - There has recently been some confusion over the expected behavior of various approaches to DateTime formatting in Zope regarding timezone representation. I would like to resolve this for the next release by making a proposal and asking you to reply to the list with a "vote": +1 == agree +/-0 == no strong opinion -1 == disagree So then, here is the situation. In Zope 2.2 (and earlier), formatting a date using either: <dtml-var theDate fmt="%A, %B %d %Y, %H:%M:%S"> <dtml-var "theDate.strftime('%A, %B %d %Y, %H:%M:%S')"> ...would give you the date *formatted based on GMT rather than the timezone (usually local) representation of the object*. Simply doing: <dtml-var theDate> ...however, would print the date in the current timezone of the datetime object. Many feel that this difference is unintuitive and a pain. The proposal is that both: <dtml-var theDate fmt="%A, %B %d %Y, %H:%M:%S"> <dtml-var "theDate.strftime('%A, %B %d %Y, %H:%M:%S')"> ...would be changed to apply the format to the current TZ representation of the object rather than convert to GMT. Of course, this could be a problem if there are people currently counting on the output being GMT, which is why we're putting it to a vote. If this change is made for 2.2.1, those who still wanted the output in GMT could just call the 'toZone()' method of the datetime object to get a GMT version before formatting: <dtml-var "theDate.toZone('GMT').strftime('%A, %B %d %Y, %H:%M:%S')"> What do you think? ZOracleDA

Zope list members, I have been developing a zope site with oracle on linux as a backend. Currently, I run both zope and oracle on the same machine using the ZOracleDA for connectivity. However, for production, I plan to seperate the tiers and run zope and and oracle on different servers. From looking at the build instructions for the DCOracle, it seems as though it will only work when the web server and database server are on the same filesystem/in the same memory space. Is there a way to have my zope server talk to a remote (across the network somewhere) database server? Do I have to move to something like ODBC for this? Thanks for your help! newbie DTML namespace

Hi all, as a newbie to both python and zope i am struggling with understanding the howto and the syntax of accessing stuff in namespace eg I would like to build a table depending on some tests peformed on stuff returned form a Z SQL method 1. I have a form with a name="spam" value="egs" this value is passed onto next dtml document --------------------------------- table <tr> <td><dtml-var spam> <td> // displays 'eggs' to test spam is OK </tr> <dtml-var sqlstuff> // this does a join of two tables <dtml-in sqlstuff> <dtml-if {CAN'T WORK OUT SYNTAX TO ACCESS spam to compare with lets say sqlstuff.spam} <tr><td><dtml-var sqlstuff.column></td>....etc </dtml-if> </dtml-in> ---------------------------------------------- I have read DTML Reference but dtml-if says "a valid python expression" Can I still access spam inside the dtml-in if so how <dtml-var spam>, spam 'spam', ['spam'] and then how do i refer to a table column name returned in the SQL query to make the comparison TIA brad

But that's more like a for loop. No test condition. Thanks for the reply... I was planning to install Zope on the database server, compile DCOracle there, and then just copy the *.so files to the webservers, where the real Zope install is. Do you need the oracle client libraries on the webservers to make the connection or are the two shared libraries that you compile, (oci_.so and Buffer.so) enough to make the connection to the web server? It is called, aptly enough, getpath. getpath expects to be passed the unique integer identifier of the cataloged object. Results store that id as data_record_id_." Commit this change, and perform another search. Now the title can be clicked on to take you to the full page. "I cannot commit this change because I don't find "<tr></tr>" first of all, secondly I cannot find "getpath", and I don't know what to do inside the file "getpath", what I need to edit etc..

WorldPilot 1.1.0 - Possible bug and solution ?

Hi Zopers, apparently, WorldPilot has an error in the getIMAPFolders function, that do not allow the creation of folders. The line is the following: cf.AddChild(IMAPFolder(Folder,TmpFolderFullName[:-1] , padding+Folder)) I have changed it in: cf.AddChild(IMAPFolder(Folder,TmpFolderFullName[1:] , padding+Folder)) and now I can happily create folders and move messages around. I am using courier IMAP on a Red Hat Linux. Can someone confirm the patch ? The reason the files are owned by 506 is an artifact of the way the RPM was packaged.
