questions on creating a ZClass

I'm currently trying to create a ZClass (based on ObjectManager) from a Folder I've got. This folder contains a ZCatalog named Catalog. If I copy and paste all existing methods and objects into my ZClass, do what must be done (adapt the addForm and add method, define a propertysheet, set the Views, etc...), and create an instance of my new ZClass somewhere it works but I can't view my instance: if I choose View I've got an Unauthorized error about Catalog. If I create the same ZClass without including the Catalog, then instanciate the ZClass, then add the Catalog manually to the instance, then it works fine ! Please could someone explain me ? thanks in advance. Ownership of ZClass methods in Zope2.2?

I have a problem in Zope2.2 - I've upgraded from a previous version, and there's a bunch of methods that used to work which now fail with access control issues (even when run as manager). My current theory is that it's because the DTML methods of the ZClass (or it's constructor method, which is trying to do some other funky stuff) is unowned. Hooowever, the DTML methods don't have an 'owner' type tab - should they? Worse yet, going to ...method/manage_owner, and clicking the 'Take Ownership' button brings up the Zope 'Help' window on Ownership. (this is netscape 4.7 on linux) Help? Am I on a total wild goose chase here? Anthony

AOLServer was called something else before AOL bought it. It's basically an httpd with tcl sitting on top of a nice API to such an extent that pretty much anything you'd want to do with a web server can be scripted in tcl. The neat thing is that it's been doing what mod_[your favourite language]+apache does since 1994. Philip Greenspun of 'P&A's Guide to Web Publishing' fame swear's by it. The question is - what were they doing in the benchmark? Zope, out of the box, is doing things like transactioning, authenication/authorization, acquisition for each hit, while AOLserver will only have that level of functionality if it's coupled with the ArsDigita Community System, and a suitable RDBMS (Oracle or maybe postgresql). We're almost certainly talking about an apples and oranges comparison, but I'd be interested in a look if someone has the URL. Substract Date

Hi, I'm a newbi in Zope had a problem. I want substract a date from an other and set the result of this to "DAYOFYEAR". For instance: '2000-05-10' - '2000-05-08' = 2 ^^^ ^^^ ^ Date1 Date2 result DAYOFYEAR Have everyone a solution for this problem?? Many Thanks Frank

How do I specify a list element?

I have a list (I think) created this way: (date = '31-DEC-1999') <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('MyList', _.string.split(date, '-'))"> so now REQUEST['MyList'] should contain 3 elements: 31 DEC 1999 How, in dtml, do I say "give me the value of the 1st element of MyList" or the second or third. I've tried <dtml-var "REQUEST['MyList'][0]"> but I get this error: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: argument 1: expected read-only character buffer, Missing found Now I don't know which part this error is refering to, but anyhow I want this functionality. the <dtml-calendar>

I'm downloaded the <dtml-calendar> with the tar.qz. My unzip asks me what to change the qz to before it will unzip, and i dont know what to change it to. i tried .doc, .zexp, and left it blank. if u know what it is, tell me.
