CorruptTransactionError (Bad news for production site!)

Today I had to role back two days of transactions from my production site because when I packed the database I was informed of a CorruptTransactionError. We are using Zope for an internal knowledge management application where anyone in the organization can add objects. So I have no way of know what was added after the fateful transaction and no way of getting any of it back. Bummer! I think this raises a few questions about ZDB: 1) We need some tools for selectively removing bad transactions rather than just truncating Data.fs back to the last good one and loosing everything that comes after it. 2) We could do with a tools that can verify the ZODB offline. This could then be run at regular intervals (maybe once an hour from cron) so that corruptions can be picked up earlier. 3) Some way to find out what was added after a corrupt transaction is needed so that at least I could see who I need to ask to re-add their stuff. I love Zope I think it the best web application framework I have use (and I have used many), but this incident has shaken my confidence in the ZODB. I can live with the occasional error and I don't object to having to do some work to recover things. But, this appears to be an error from which I can not recover my data even though I have backups. Richard PS. Is there anyone offering commercial support for Zope in the UK. The more I am relying on Zope the more I think I need someone to provide guaranteed backup.

How to present a download button...

Hi, I am having trouble with a non standard download method. I want to provide a download link to a file, but not the standard one, because I would get the id as the filename. The id is a random value and thus not suitable for the customer. The real filename is saved in the title property. So I created a dtml method "download" like this one: <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Type', content_type)"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Disposition', 'inline;filename='+title)"> <dtml-var please_give_me_the_raw_data> And the link is: HREF="/some/where/my_file/download" Everything works fine with the filename. But how do I spill out the raw data to the browser? Any ideas ? Thanks for your help... - Andreas

How do I call a parameter from inside of the same form?

problem with ZopeFind and objectValues

Hi, please could someone explain me why when accessing the same zope site anonymously: <dtml-in "objectValues(['Folder'])"> <dtml-var id> - <dtml-var title> </dtml-in> works as expected and displays a list of id and titles of the current folder's subfolders, but <dtml-in "ZopeFind(this(), obj_metatypes=['Folder'])"> <dtml-var id> - <dtml-var title> </dtml-in> gives me the following error: """Unauthorized You are not authorized to access id.""" If I set a proxy role of manager to this dtml-method that doesn't change anything, it still doesn't work. If I log in as superuser both work the same (Zope 2.1.6). In fact I want to do a ZopeFind with search_sub set to 1 to recurse all subfolders from the current one. Is there any other method to do it, or should I set a particular parameter to a particular value (not found how to really use ZopeFind in ZQR, the sample is far too short IMHO). How can I restrict a search in Zcatalog to the current folder and its subfolders ? DCOracle question again

About a week ago, I asked a question about dcoracle (Included below). I got one response suggesting that I not use a cursor. However, I need a cursor to return several (lots) of rows from the database in one stored procedure call. I can't do this by adding extra non-cursor parameters. The story with 900 files/Zope hanging..

That's weird, maybe it's a bug, or maybe zope is not powerful enough, but when I'm copying and pasted http://zope.atomasoft.com/resumebank/addPostingForm/manage_workspace then change the url in netscape for --> http://www.atomasoft.com/resumebank/addPostingForm then be able to see my page I'm working on, then a problem appear, I mean zope stop, I cannot browse inside zope and I can't browse inside www.atomasoft.com/etc.. No one here know a patch for that problem ? no one here is smart enough in zope(because I'm not) for solving that problem ?
