UserDb, GUF, LoginManager, etc, which one?

Hi there, What I want is an acl_users equivalent that has an SQL database backend. I want an easy to understand, easy to install solution for this that has some kind of future in Zope land. Currently I'm deploying 2.1 but that should change into 2.2 eventually. UserDb isn't developed anymore. Besides, it might not work for 2.2. (does it?) GenericUserFolder is not developed anymore. Besides, it might not work for 2.2. (does it?) LoginManager is being developed. *But* it is dependent on ZPatterns, which is: * Another prerequisite * far too much for me to swallow right now. It sorts of doubles Zope's already not insignificant level of jargon and confusion. * under heavy development; lots of changes happening all the time, invalidating APIs etc. * needs a C module to be compiled. On Linux (development platform) that's okay, but it's not on my current deployment platform, Windows NT. I don't have a C compiler there. So what do I do if I want an SQL backend for my acl_users folder? This part of Zope seems to be becoming ever *more* complicated; the past seems to have been actually easier and simpler in this case. I just want to dump in a product, do minimal configuration, and be done with it. Is there any solution to my problem? Do I have to risk installing development versions of LoginManager/ZPatterns, or risk installing something that's not being developed anymore? Is there another way out? Regards, Martijn

Is this a bug? Posting data to another DTML document

I developed my project on Zope 2.1.6 on NT environment. Last week i installed Zope 2.2.0 on Solaris 8. i transferred my project to 'new' Zope. But when i try to access my DTML document comes authentication window. I can't authenticate it in any of my usernames. User information is different than my zope user. ex. i log into my Zope management as jarkkov (so that stays at my browsers cache, until i restart browser) i type in my login document '666666' and 'password', these values are submitted to another document called email_accounts, which uses external method with submitted parametres and return values into email_accounts document. Above error message is shown. in zope 2.1.6 environment it did'nt happen. I tied to create all kind of users on users folder and tried to give all permissions to anonymous user and tried to access anonymously thrue another browser, but nothing seems to work. This is essential that i can anonymously access to this DTML documents and submit any kind of values on my REQUEST. All the documents are on subfolder called testweb and i noticed that Zope 2.2.0, i have ownership in all documents and folders. testweb is owned directly by jarkkov (testweb/acl_users) and all documents in that folder. I also tried post data to email_accounts thrue browser like this: http://194.42.57.17:8080/proto_test/email_acounts?cn=666666&password=1234 on Zope 2.1.6 it worked, but with Zope 2.2.0, ZServer asked authentication. I can't remove ownership or can i? Is it the blocking my access anonymously to documents? What i have to do to make my project work on new Zope version? jarkkov

Import Error 'PTKDemo' - but *no* PTKDemo objects around..

Hi all, I'm having a nightmare here. I have a Zope 2.2 (src, solaris) installation that I built from scratch. Then, because *it would not* import an exported folder from a 2.1.6 installation I had to use the Data.fs from the 2.1.6 installation and strip out everything other than the folder I was interested in. Things seemed to be ok, but I found a nasty error I can't get around. I wanted to use the 'advanced' tab on a ZSQL method and immediately got this traceback. This happens on *any* ZSQL method. I use the ZMySQL database adaptor.   I've also tried this with Zope 2.2.1b1 and get the same result. Hotfixes: serious suggestion

Hi all, I already wrote it to DC but got no response, so I will try to get some feedback here. At the moment DC uses the north american way of expressing dates and assigns them in this form to the names of the Hotfixes. I propose another naming scheme and will explain the reasons below. The current format is Hotfix_08_09_2000, my proposed format is Hotfix_2000-08-09. This is the ISO 8601 format (abbreviated form). Reasoning: First of all Zope is a product of a north american company but is used worldwide. Not all countries use the american form of dates, so it would be nice to have a standardized one (in my opinion this applies also to the standard date functions in Zope). The reasons for establishing ISO 8601 apply here as well: - ordering of month and day are different in Europe and America, this leads to difficulties interpreting date values - ISO dates are sortable by string functions - ISO dates are easy to parse by humans AND programs Opinions? Using ZCatalog with SiteAccess in Zope 2.2

ZCatalog does not seem to like Site Access2 i applied the patch from http://www.zope.org/Members/4am//SiteAccess/patch and then updated Zope with all the patches from CVS and it still gives me: ------------ Error Type: IndexError Error Value: list index out of range ------------ if i get rid of SiteRoot from the folder, then ZCatalog works, but Z Search Interface doesnt :/ any help would be much appreciated -- best regards, tav
