cannot run without -D on win2000 ?

Hi I tried to run Zope without the -D option but it will hang after the initial: C:\Program Files\Zope_220\bin\python.exe" "C:\Program Files\Zope_220\z2.py I tried both the 2.1.6 and 2.2.0 versions. Does anybody else have this same problem ? With the -D option Zope runs ok, but I would like to supress the traceback on errors. Gijs Reulen

The good news is that after upgrading to the latest version of DCOracle, I am now having only intermitant crashes, about every 2 days or so - and I'm not even sure those crashes are due to DCOracle. using crontab to restart ZOPE - again

Some time ago I asked for help when setting up crontab to restart ZOPE. I got a few answers and scripts. This one was sent to me by Adam Karpierz. It works fine on my RED HAT 6.2 box but I can't get it working on FreeBSD 4.0. On Linux it doesn't do anything if ZOPE is running. It only restarts when ZOPE stops working. On FreeBSD it stops and then restarts ZOPE every time. I wander if anyone knows what should be changed for this script to run on FreeBSD. Stability problems using ZOracleDA

Hello, Recently I have been having some severe stability problems using zope and oracle together. Zope has been segfaulting on a regular basis, usually every 10-15 mintues. When I looked into it a while back I came to the conclusion it was a problem with the linux version of oracle (an incompatibility with glibc 2.1), but I have tested it on solaris now and I am having the same problems. I have been able to live with it for development (only takes a few seconds to restart automatically), and assumed it was only a problem on linux, but for production (which will be on solaris) this is obviously not an option as the site will be under a much higher load. The details of my configuration are: Linux: Redhat 6.2 (intel) Oracle 8.1.6 Python 1.5.2 (compiled from sources --with-threads) Zope 2.2.2 (compiled from sources) ZOracleDA 2.2.0b1 (compiled from sources, also tried 2.1.0) Solaris: Solaris 8 (intel) Oracle 8.1.5 Python 1.5.2 (compiled from sources --with-threads) Zope 2.2.2 (compiled from sources) gcc 2.95.2 ZOracleDA 2.2.0b1 (compiled from sources) DCOracle Setup file used (tweaked Setup-8.1.5): *shared* ORACLE_INCLUDES=$(ORACLE_HOME)/rdbms/demo -I$(ORACLE_HOME)/network/public -I$(ORACLE_HOME)/plsql/public ORACLE_L=-laio -lclntsh ORACLE_LIBS=$(ORACLE_HOME)/lib/ $(ORACLE_L) oci_ oci_.c -I$(ORACLE_INCLUDES) -L$(ORACLE_LIBS) -DDCORACLE8 Buffer Buffer.c I suspect that it may be a problem with threads & DCOracle. If I compile just DCOracle (either version 1.3.0, 1.3.1 or 1.3.2), no zope, I still have the problems (even just by doing an 'import ocidb' it segfaults), but if I compile python without threads then I have no problems (I will need to run zope multithreaded however - the site will be handing a fair bit of traffic). I have also tried linking with pthreads instead of solaris's standard threads library (as has been suggested on this list), but it still segfaulted. I haven't been able to find a solution on the web or any mailing lists so far... but I assume there are a lot of other zope users running zope with oracle who are not experiencing these problems. Zope has been great so far from a development point of view, but this issue is turning out to be a showstopper. Any ideas how I can fix it? Thanks in advance, Peter Kelly pmk(a)post.com

Problems upgrading 2.1.6 -> 2.2.2

I followed the HOW-TO here http://www.zope.org/Members/mcdonc/HowTos/zopeinstall/ZOPE-INSTALL-HOWTO And looked around for different documentation but, alas, was left without much help. I can move over the Data.fs file, and reinstall the products but every product is broken when I start it back up (again and again). I have tried removing them and reinstalling them but it will not let me import the .zexp files (any of the products). Authentication problem when accessing ZSQL method

Hi, I am experiencing great frustration when trying to implement a drop-down list based upon one of the how-tos I found on the Zope site. Whenever I try to 'view' the DTML method which references the ZSQL method, I am prompted to authenticate by my browser. I can't see anything in the security attributes for the SQL method which requires authentication, and I can 'test' the ZSQL method succesfully without requiring authentication. I have tried providing my user credentials (ie, to match the one and only user defined in the 'acl-users' list', but that fails. Where should I start looking for the answer? Regards Steve Smith

Tree display problem

I am trying to build my first ZClass. Actorclass inherits from classes Object Manager and Catalogue Aware. In Product Management at /Control_Panel / Products I created a product with id="LegalObjects". I have one ZClass in the product. The ZClass has Id="Actorclass", title="Actor Class for Legal Objects", metaname="Actor". Actorclass_addform points to the dtml method "Actorclass_add" with the following line <form action="Actorclass_add">. Error Type: NameError Error Value: Actorclass "This resource may be trying to reference a nonexistent object or variable Actorclass."  I am trying to follow the beehive GmbH Z Class tutorial Release 1.1. After many tries, I conclude I am missing something obvious that will prevent success until it is identified and overcome. I am using Zope version 2.2 under Windows NT 4.0, service pack 6. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong are appreciated. I am sorry I can not identify my mistake. Thank you for any assistance.
