Using FTP to connect to Zope server from (g)VIM

Hi all, My intellect was piqued recently by a discussion on the list about editors for Zope etc. I remember some people saynig that VIM was good, to which my response was, 'Yeah but there's no FTP built in'. Someone then responded with a few scripts to do it. Well I thought they were a bit cumbersome, so I wrote my own. ftpopen.py and ftpsave.py. If you have a VIM executable with Python support built in then these run from within VIM and allow you to open/save file from/to Zope seamlessly. (I have them on a menu in GVIM for instance) I'll put the files up on my Zope Members bit (http://www.zope.org/Members/philh) along with a few instructions. If anybody can think of any enhancements then please let me know and I'll see if I can work them in. I hope these will be useful to someone. See ya Phil phil.harris(a)zope.co.uk

It's very strange that one machine with IE5.0 works and one doesn't. Anyone else heard of something like this? As for the sluggishness, IE just gets fatter every time they rev it. But, so does Netscape for that matter. You probably need more RAM. Chris McDonough: Thanks for your courteous reply, and the links to definitive rules for ClassicStructuredText and StructuredTextNG. On zope.org, the available documentation on Structured Text for aspiring Zopers is a bit confusing, because it is often not clear what is definitive, what is is a proposal, what is ClassicStructuredText, what is StructuredTextNG, what is StructuredText Zwiki, and what may be just a member's opinion. It is also not clear as to which version of Structured Text is supported in which release of Zope. To document the spacing problem in STXNG bulleted outlines, I offer a specific example for the benefit of other readers: In Zope 2.4.1, the following structured text: - Red - Green - Blue - First - Second - Third - Freshman - Junior - Senior outputs to browser-rendered html that looks much like this in MS IE v5.50: o Red o Green o Blue o First o Second o Third o Freshman o Junior o Senior This spacing problem is the result of an unfortunate and non-XHTML compliant nesting of generated tags in the html output. Also, thank you for clarifying the issue of tables in StructuredTextNG. The rules are indeed very different from those that were implemented in some versions of ClassicStructuredText and Zwiki StructuredText. Of course, the whole issue of tables in Structured Text is probably not critical for the vast majority of applications. (HTML is plenty fine if one needs the next step up in formatting flexibility!) I will begin work on bug reports, patches, and possibly some enhancements for StructuredTextNG. Any help and hints will be gratefully accepted. Of primary interest is correcting the killer bug that appears in the structured-text method in Products.PythonScripts.standard in Zope 2.4.x. Correcting that bug appears to be the most elegant way to support StructuredText-formatted topics on ZPT-formatted pages. Zwiki privileges

I installed Zwiki today and loaded 20 zwiki pages, but cannot figure out how-to... 1. give "anonymous" rights to "add comments" 2. restrict rights to "edit this page" "Change ZWiki Pages" in Security gives access to do both. This might not be the best place to post Zwiki Q's, but zwiki.org content looks like my desk with papers scattered everywhere. I cant find a zwiki mail list or any how-tos. Please scoot me in the right direction. TIA, -Trevor

Accessing ZWiki pages via ftp / permissions

Hi! I hope this is not too dumb... I'm stuck with a rather weird problem. I have a ZWikiWeb at "/projects/abc". Security settings for / are set so that only authenticated users can view stuff there (Manager has all permissions, Anonymous has none, Authenticated has "Access content information" and "View"). There's also a role "ftpusers" that has "FTP access". There's another role "abc" that has no special rights. Security settings for /projects/abc do the following: - The "Access contents information" permission is not acquired, but set only for roles "Manager" and "abc". The same for the "View" permission. - The role "abc" has all the ZWiki related permissions, which are also acquired (though this should make no difference). Now, all of this works fine. I can use the abc role to work with the ZWikiWeb, add, change, everything. BUT: I want to access ZWiki pages in the web via ftp. Using a user with the "abc" and the "ftpusers" roles, I can access all DTML documents and DTML methods in /projects/abc. But I can't even read any of the ZWiki page type objects in the ZWikiWeb, because I get 503 unauthorized folders. I checked and saw that there are no special permissions on any of the ZWiki pages. For a test, I granted the ftpusers role every permission available on the / level, to no avail. I fail to see what else I could allow the user to do, that he can't do yet. Can someone explain the logic of this to me? Is there some place to look (a log file or something), where I can see what is the exact source of this problem? Any help appreciated! BTW, before I started securing the site by taking permissions away from "Anonymous", ftp access to ZWiki pages used to work, so I'm sure there must be a way! upgrade 2.3.2 to 2.4.1: import zwiki

I just installed Zope-2.4.1 in a new dir and still have my Zope-2.3.2 in the old dir. I exported my Wiki dirs from 2.3.2 and imported them into 2.4.1. The data has come through fine. I am a little bit confused about how to use Zwiki in 2.4.1. Simon's log on zwiki.org says that it has been incorporated into the main zope product, and indeed I see StructuredText/Zwiki.py in the 2.4.1 distro, but I do not it in the products dir. Do I need to install the Zwiki product or is the StructuredText/Zwiki.py file enough? When I try and load one of my zwiki pages, I get the error: This object is broken because the ZWiki product that created it is no longer installed or is installed incorrectly. Please contact the product maintainer for assistance. Note that the data associated with this product has not been lost, and will be accessible again if the product is reinstalled. Can someone point me to some docs or otherwise provide some advice about what I should do next? Thanks, John Hunter

Automatic cataloging

Hi I've tried to get an automatic ZCatalog working, following the instructions in the ZopeBook, but without success. Here's what I did: 1. Made a new Product called Task 2. Made a new ZClass called Task inside the Task product. 3. Added a property sheet called TaskProperties to the Task ZClass 4. Added properties: priority (selection), status (selection), deadline (date), owner (selection) 5. Added a new ZCatalog in /Tasks 6. Replaced the default indexes with: deadline (Field), owner (Text), status (Text), priority (Text). 7. Replaced the default meta data with: owner, priority, status, absolute_url 8. Added a couple of instances of Task in the folder /Tasks/RMP/Films But there's nothing in the Catalog. Where am I going wrong? Hi Trevor; I find the easiest way to do this is to use relative URLs on your Zope server, using <img src="images/header.gif"> instead of the absolute path. (This way you can reference it from almost anywhere in your site and let acquisition do the work for you).
