privileges problem

Hello all, I'm tring to execute this script: lista = [] folder = container.indice2() #indice2 is a ZCatalog for file in folder: if not file.hasProperty('codice'): lista.append(file.id) attributes=getattr(folder, file) attributes.manage_addProperty('codice', 'inserted yet', 'string') return lista I borrowed the idea from the /Examples/GuestBook/addEntry script Zope prompts me for a user name and passwd, I type my usual account data (I'm the only user and I think I have full privileges) and BAM! Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access in this context Troubleshooting Suggestions * The URL may be incorrect. * The parameters passed to this resource may be incorrect. * A resource that this resource relies on may be encountering an error. I tried to give the script all the proxy roles I could I opened Control Panel/acl_users and gave manage property permission to managers and owners (I'm a manager user): NOTHING! Using FTP to connect to Zope server from (g)VIM

Hi all, My intellect was piqued recently by a discussion on the list about editors for Zope etc. I remember some people saynig that VIM was good, to which my response was, 'Yeah but there's no FTP built in'. Someone then responded with a few scripts to do it. Well I thought they were a bit cumbersome, so I wrote my own. ftpopen.py and ftpsave.py. If you have a VIM executable with Python support built in then these run from within VIM and allow you to open/save file from/to Zope seamlessly. (I have them on a menu in GVIM for instance) I'll put the files up on my Zope Members bit (http://www.zope.org/Members/philh) along with a few instructions. If anybody can think of any enhancements then please let me know and I'll see if I can work them in. I hope these will be useful to someone. See ya Phil phil.harris(a)zope.co.uk

ZCatalog: AttributeError: 'None' object has no attribute 'load'

Hi again .. I've been getting these for a long time. A retry succeeds, but it's ugly if it happens to a client. It also happens pretty often (say eg. every 20th time I upload something to Zope). I have packed the database, but that didn't help. Changing ownership...

I'm using the following method to change the ownership of an Object: from AccessControl.Owned import Owned def changeOwner(pObject,pUserFolder,pUsername=''): userObject=pUserFolder.getUser(pUsername).__of__(pUserFolder) pObject.changeOwnership(userObject) Owned.changeOwnership(pObject,userObject,recursive=1) And I call it as follows: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set(objectValue, REQUEST.resolve_url('www.myurl.com/myFolder'))"> <dtml-call "changeOwner(objectValue,acl_users,'tester')"> The above solution changes the ownership of the folder and the objects inside of it (I can see it on the manage interface). My problem now is that I get the following error whenever I try to edit an object that I own: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Unauthorized You are not authorized to access indexObject. Why do I get this message if I own the object which I want to modify? It doesn't happen if I create a new object rather than transfer the ownership. What am doing wrong? Thanks in advanced, Josef.

NT Service doesn't respond on stop request

I have Zope 2.4.2 running as service on Windows 2000. The service starts okay, but when I stop it from the Management Console, the service stops and then about a minute later I get the message "Could not stop the Zope (WebSite) service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." If I enter the "NET STOP WebSite" command from a command window, the service stops and the command completes without any error messages in about 20 seconds. Any idea why I'm getting the error message when stopping the service from the Management Console? Thanks Mark Snellings

strange ftp problem

Hi, I experience strange problems when fetching binary files out of the zope database. I downloaded it several, all versions differ, and are different from the original (downloading per http works fine, it gives the correct file). This happens with different types of binary files (I tested exe and zip, some of my users had problems with wav), but it seems to work fine with txt, html and images. It appeared at least with linux command line ftp, wsftp and IE5, so it is likely to be a server problem. Uploading can be with ftp or http, download per ftp produces damaged files. I use the debian version of Zope 2.4.2 (source release, python 2.1, linux2), python 2.1.1, linux2), installed products are - apart from the standard products - the HTMLDocument 0.9 and my own product (which does not fiddle anything with FTP at all). Best Practice for Newsletter/eZine?

I need to develop for several clients a relatively simple-minded eZine/newsletter kind of thing. What we want is for anyone who has an Editor role to be able to post material through an HTML form where they provide the headline, the teaser, and the main story (something like what SquishDot does for articles) and, when they push a button, the story gets posted to their site and an email is triggered to all subscribers containing the teaser and a link to the full article. It did occur to me that I might be able to modify SquishDot to accomplish this in some way but I wanted to see first if anyone knew of an existing Zope product that's designed to address this specific need.
