How do I integrate zope with apache

Hey there, I'm using linux 8.0 with KDE Desktop. I've got zope running on a medusa server at the moment, the one it came with. I've also got an apache server running and I was wondering how I can integrate the zope interface to be used with my linux apache server. I'm a total linux nub so go easy on me . ~Mosquito

Zope Server on Linux

Hello everyone, I'm new to LINUX, ZOPE, PYTHON, and this mailing list. I have a ZOPE server running on Linux and I'm trying to get my forums to work. They require PHP and mySQL both of which I have but I'm not sure how to install them into my ZOPE server. Any suggestions? ~Mosquito

Zope Win32 service (was RE: [Zope] Binary Compatibility)

Lukas, It doesn't appear to be the case if you're running Zope under Windows. Uninstalling Zope-2.5.1 doesn't remove the Zope service, and when you install 2.6.0 the Zope service pointing to $INSTANCE_HOME/bin/lib/win32/pythonservice.exe no longer functions. Is there a workaround for this? (ie, a way to uninstall and reinstall the service). I've seen this happen on 3 zope machines, so it's reproducible. Virtual Host Monster does not work with the absolute_url()

I am finding that the Virtual Host Monster does not work with the absolute_url() method of several objects. It seems to work fine for all other things, but when I try to call the URL of an object like this..... <dtml-in "thismodel.getReports()"> <A HREF="<dtml-var "_['sequence-item'].absolute_url()">?assessmentid=<dtml-var thisassessment>" TARGET="_newer"><dtml-var "getTitleOrId()"></A> </dtml-in> It always returns the path back to the real root of Zope. It completely ignores that there is a Virtual Host Monster. I am certain that my Apache rewrites are ok, Ive been using it for many months with no problem. It is just the absolute_url() method that does not work. Any hints? Tom

privileges problem

Hello all, I'm tring to execute this script: lista = [] folder = container.indice2() #indice2 is a ZCatalog for file in folder: if not file.hasProperty('codice'): lista.append(file.id) attributes=getattr(folder, file) attributes.manage_addProperty('codice', 'inserted yet', 'string') return lista I borrowed the idea from the /Examples/GuestBook/addEntry script Zope prompts me for a user name and passwd, I type my usual account data (I'm the only user and I think I have full privileges) and BAM! Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access in this context Troubleshooting Suggestions * The URL may be incorrect. * The parameters passed to this resource may be incorrect. * A resource that this resource relies on may be encountering an error. I tried to give the script all the proxy roles I could I opened Control Panel/acl_users and gave manage property permission to managers and owners (I'm a manager user): NOTHING! WebDAV Functionality Question

Hello, I have Zope (2.5.1) installed and have the WebDAV server set up ( -W 8088) and working. I am using win2k web folders to connect to the webdav server. I can connect and browse just fine, but I get an error when I try copy a file from my win2k box to the server. Has anyone found a way around this. Thanks. Patrick

Download ZShellScripts v0.1 from : http://www.librelogiciel.com/software/ZShellScripts-0.1.tar.gz What is The Grand Unification Theory ??? The Grand Unification Theory : ------------------------------ Why would Zope only support Python Scripts ? Install ZShellScripts instead. This will allow you to add your own languages interpreters, and even define your own language syntax. Here's how : 1 - Create a Shell instance somewhere. Three types of Shell instances are currently provided : * Shell (Python) -- Can execute standard Zope Python Scripts. Code was unashamedly borrowed from Zope 2.5.1, then was re-ordered and factorized, so please report any problem. * Shell (Unix) -- Can execute Unix commands as the user Zope is run as. Variables like context, container, and so on are available as standard environment variables, but will contain the URL to the object instead of its value. This allows your shell script to talk back to Zope using wget for example ! * Shell (Zope) -- Can (*will soon*) execute Zope ZShell commands. This part is currently not working but be sure you'll get it soon !!! Shell (Python) and Shell (Unix) work as expected, as far as I have tested. 2 - Create a "Script (ZShell)" instance, and put the path to your Shell instance on its first line in the usual Unix shell scripts way : #! /path/to/myshell 3 - Put content in your "Script (ZShell)" instance, for example put Python code in it if the shell you use is an instance of "Shell (Python)", or Unix shell commands if it is an instance of "Shell (Unix)", and so on... 4 - Run your "Script (ZShell)" instance as usual, as if it was a standard Zope Python Script for example. Launching your instance, will in fact delegate the code execution to the Shell instance which path you specified on the first line of your "Script (ZShell)" instance. 5 - Enjoy ! 6 - Profit ! (ok, this one comes directly from SlashDot) 7 - Use ShellUnix.py, ShellPython.py, and ShellZope.py as examples to create your own Shell class. ZShellScripts don't need to change. ExternalEditor and M$ Word setup?

Hi Casey & lists We aim to use ExternalEditor as the crux of our CMF for end-users. When logged in to Plone, the ExternalEditor icon shows up with the user's content. Which strikes me as very, very cool. It works fine for plaintext content, but it will have to work with Microsoft Word (and/or OpenOffice). Currently, when I try this, Word tells me that it doesn't have an importer for this type of content (though it is a plain .doc file I'm editing), and opens the file as unconverted gunk with some recognizable text here and there. I'm guessing that this may be thanks to ExternalEditor's tempfile name. Does anyone have a ZopeEdit.ini that works with Word? -- Jean Jordaan http://www.upfrontsystems.co.za
