Here's another question: Is actually normal for me to NOT see ANY memory usage decrease when I do a pack followed by a minimize ? I've been doing this trying to notice patterns for memory usage, and one thing I noticed is that when I do this, and decrease the amount of total objects in the cache by 25%, my memory usage actually stays the same!! That seems horribly wrong somehow. I know my python has garbage collection buit-in too ... which is a good thing ... Problem is many of them are part of the CMF ... I really don't want to have to go through every bit of python script I have to do this, and would much prefer finding the root cause! We had the same effect as the one you describe and solved it at least partially by setting every object used inside our PythonScripts to None before returning from the script. So if you have code along the lines of "something=context.restrictedTraverse('whatever')" or "baz=foo.objectValues(bar)" (or anything like that) try setting "something=baz=None" before the script ends. BTW: LeakFinder is a great tool, very useful in my experience and I deeply regret that it is no longer working with 2.6. Be prepared to restart your Zope after using it though. Hi, I use VirtualHostMonster, aka. VHM, it is inside of your Zope (just select "add VHM"). It is pretty easy too and works with load balancing proxy (pound.apsis.ch), or standalone, or with apache. With apache you could not specify directories, apache will serve right content without configuring VHM (just add VHM to Zope root). what is wrong with this firewall for zope websever

I have a rehat 7.1 linux sever with zope running on it. I use iptables as firewall. The firewall for zope webserver is all following: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ## Zope iptables -A INPUT -i $IFACE -p tcp --dport 8080 -j ACCEPT # Allow inbound ftp iptables -A INPUT -i $IFACE -p tcp --dport 8021 -m state --state \ NEW,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -o $IFACE -p tcp --sport 8021 -m state --state \ ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I am trying to use ws_ftp to send files to zope. The problem is that if I stop the iptables firewall, it can connect to zope by the port8021. and i can see all directories in Romote Site (here is zope sever), and everything works fine. but when i start the iptables firewall, it still can connect to zope but i can not see the directories in the remote site. therfore i can not sent file to zope. what wrong with this firewall rules and how to fix it? Hi, i am new to the list, so if i am ask sth. stuipid just slap me on my back, okay? :-) well, i installed zope via yast on a suse linux 7.2 system. everything went well. now i want to open localhost:8080/manage, but he wants a password and a username. what is the username and password? (i tried admin, admin, test, test etc but it didnt worked) i also tried to look in the helpsys, but i could find anything. plz help. :-) thank you in advance. sue

Zope scripting and ownership

Hi, Is there any way for a Python script to control who is going to be the owner of a file it generate? My testing show that a new object created using manage_X method is always owned by the authenticated person, even if it is created by a proxy script and the authenticated person normally have no right to create a new object in that folder. Is it possible to write a script that change the owner at the time when an object is created, or after the object is created, say if the script is a manager proxy? Regards, Isaac.

Installation of pyXML

Hi, where and how I have to install pyXML for the Product ParsedXML? I use PyXML-0.7.1.win32-py2.1.exe for Zope 2.6 and Python 2.1.3. In this executable I can't set the installation directory. Do I have to install Python in a different directory as a seperate software? The product ParsedXML nedds this library. Thank You for help Fritz
