privileges problem

Hello all, I'm tring to execute this script: lista = [] folder = container.indice2() #indice2 is a ZCatalog for file in folder: if not file.hasProperty('codice'): lista.append(file.id) attributes=getattr(folder, file) attributes.manage_addProperty('codice', 'inserted yet', 'string') return lista I borrowed the idea from the /Examples/GuestBook/addEntry script Zope prompts me for a user name and passwd, I type my usual account data (I'm the only user and I think I have full privileges) and BAM! Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access in this context Troubleshooting Suggestions * The URL may be incorrect. * The parameters passed to this resource may be incorrect. * A resource that this resource relies on may be encountering an error. I tried to give the script all the proxy roles I could I opened Control Panel/acl_users and gave manage property permission to managers and owners (I'm a manager user): NOTHING! version trouble

Hi, I'm working with Zope 2.4.3 on a linux SuSE 7.0 system. I was just editing my homepage using a version ( called 'tmp' ) and 2 different browser windows ( mozilla 0.9.7 ). Then I decided that the changes I had done are ok, saved them and quited the version ( in the first browser window ). After that I found a small mistake in one of my sites and corrected it ( in the second browser window ). Somehow the version was still active and the changes were made inside it. But, it wasn't the same verion. The version the changes were made in is called 'No longer active'. I can start and quit working with that version by starting and quitting the original version tmp. But if I want to save / discard the canges there is just the message 'No unsaved work has been done in this version' The link of the version 'No longer active' points to the root directory of Zope ( I was working in the folder 'hausmann-family' ), but there is no version at all. How can I get rid of this version? Some files are locked and I can't delete them or do anything else with them. Thanks, Steffen -- Es gibt keine perfekten Menschen, nur perfekte Absichten.

Zope and Databases

Our Zope 2.4.3 install is running on a SuSE Linux 7.3 server and we want to connect to an Oracle database which is sitting on a different server; a Sun Solaris based machine running OS 5.8 with Oracle Enterprise Edition 8.1.7.0 installed. We have downloaded the DCOracle2 product (for Red Hat Linux 7.1, Python 2.1) but we aren't using Red Hat and we seem unable to get the product to install properly. It complains about the ORACLE_HOME. Also, skimming through the documentation is extremely confusing. As far as we can tell, the docs seem to assume that the Oracle Database is installed (or to be installed) on the same server as the one that runs Zope. In our scenario, this isn't the case. Basically, how can we discover the correct ORACLE_HOME info from the Sun box and what else do we need to do with DCOracle2 to get it connecting to our Oracle database? (We know very little about Oracle if you can't tell already!). Richard H.

Attaching multiple file to mime

I saw Dieter's bogus answer to attaching multiple files in mime method, but have no clue how that answers anything? http://groups.yahoo.com/group/zope/message/82157 Anyhow, has anybody got any working example of how to send all of the files in a folder as attachments using sendmail and mime? Using FTP to connect to Zope server from (g)VIM

Hi all, My intellect was piqued recently by a discussion on the list about editors for Zope etc. I remember some people saynig that VIM was good, to which my response was, 'Yeah but there's no FTP built in'. Someone then responded with a few scripts to do it. Well I thought they were a bit cumbersome, so I wrote my own. ftpopen.py and ftpsave.py. If you have a VIM executable with Python support built in then these run from within VIM and allow you to open/save file from/to Zope seamlessly. (I have them on a menu in GVIM for instance) I'll put the files up on my Zope Members bit (http://www.zope.org/Members/philh) along with a few instructions. If anybody can think of any enhancements then please let me know and I'll see if I can work them in. I hope these will be useful to someone. See ya Phil phil.harris(a)zope.co.uk

Hi Dieter I know you said it again and again but as long as nobody can say WHY it works on some and not on all boxes the verdict is still the same! Then it's prure luck. I mean if you had a production Solaris box out there and would have to install (e.g.) Solaris 2.9 and not know whether it would work afterwards how would you feel? Knowing, that there is no answer to whats happening anywhere if it goes wrong?! I have two Suns serviced by two different companies with different hardware with different Solaris versions with the SAME problems! That doesn't look good at all for the Solaris-Zope-Python installation. Now if your Solaris works then please solve the puzzle! I know that I can't and that wasn't for lack of trying. ZCatalog: AttributeError: 'None' object has no attribute 'load'

Hi again .. I've been getting these for a long time. A retry succeeds, but it's ugly if it happens to a client. It also happens pretty often (say eg. every 20th time I upload something to Zope). I have packed the database, but that didn't help. SiteRoot fun and games

I suppose this is just a bug report..... I added a SiteRoot to a Folder (one down from root) in Zope 2.5.0 and when ever I click on that Folder in "manage", all I get is this following. However if I go to ...8080:/Folder/manage_main it displays OK. And of course from THAT screen, I can't delete the SiteRoot entry. This 2.5.0 is great fun eh? So far, ZSync won't Sync, SiteRoot gives this pain, and VirtualHostMonster is being a monster too. And we go live tomorrow. dtml-in equivalent in pythonscripts ?

Hi, what is the equivalent for: <dtml-in "objectValues('Folder')" sort=sequence skip_unauthorized> in a python script ? do I have to program the "sort", and "skip_unauthorized" explicitly ? Changing ownership...

I'm using the following method to change the ownership of an Object: from AccessControl.Owned import Owned def changeOwner(pObject,pUserFolder,pUsername=''): userObject=pUserFolder.getUser(pUsername).__of__(pUserFolder) pObject.changeOwnership(userObject) Owned.changeOwnership(pObject,userObject,recursive=1) And I call it as follows: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set(objectValue, REQUEST.resolve_url('www.myurl.com/myFolder'))"> <dtml-call "changeOwner(objectValue,acl_users,'tester')"> The above solution changes the ownership of the folder and the objects inside of it (I can see it on the manage interface). My problem now is that I get the following error whenever I try to edit an object that I own: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Unauthorized You are not authorized to access indexObject. Why do I get this message if I own the object which I want to modify? It doesn't happen if I create a new object rather than transfer the ownership. What am doing wrong? Thanks in advanced, Josef.
