Pound (current version) looks like the right choice for our particular application. I planning out the system I have stumbled on a couple of problems where I need some help.B I have Pound working. I encountered one minor problem--the code claims the configuration director is found in /usr/local/etc/pound.cfg whereas some of the documentation suggests it is to be found in /usr/local/etc/pound/pound.cfg Pound maps an incoming request to a (IP address, Port) based upon the host name. In my particular case, I want to run multiple instances of Zope (say, 127.0.0.1:8080 and 127.0.0.1:9080) remapped from, say, alpha.mydomain.com and beta.mydomain.com. What magic does one use to convince Zope to use the appropriate domain name when it generates an absolute URL?

Combining hits from searching 2 ZCatalogs at once

Hi, I'm writing a Python script that searches 2 ZCatalogs at once with a form-provided query. The first ZCat contains scanned images of text documents plus their metadata. The second ZCat contains the OCR text of the same documents. The searches are written like this: textresults = context.Text_Catalog( {'PrincipiaSearchSource': query} ) ocrresults = context.OCR_Catalog( {'PrincipiaSearchSource': query} ) Text_Catalog is the primary catalog; it contains more metadata than in OCR_Catalog and hits on this catalog are preferred. OCR_Catalog is the secondary catalog; if I get a hit here (and assuming there's no hit on its matching document in Text_Catalog), then I want to find its matching document and add its metadata to textresults as a new hit. I'll then return the modified textresults to the calling form. My question is: How do I add the new hit to textresults? I tried textresults.append( newhit ), but I found out that textresults isn't a sequence, it's a LazyCat class instance. How do I append new items to this instance? Thanks Sergio This works just great except for one little thing I have not figured out: When setting security in zope on an object in a folder, I then access the page through the IIS server and it prompts me to log in to that windows server instead of Zope. If I access the zope server page directly via zope I get a zope login box and all works. The zope through IIS works fine on pages with anonymous allowed. I am using zope 2.5.1, IIS on Windows 2000, and my client is IE 6 on windows XP. The zope server and IIS server are 2 different boxes. oops, commit error ZODB (what's this)?

Hi dear Zopelist :-), i've been making a nice form for some administrative job. I've used Zope261 on linux, using products like exUserFolder, replaced it later with mysqlUserFolder, ZMySQLDA, CookieCrumbler and it's nothing fancy. I've written some processing python in a script and gave students access so they could practise using the interface. Repeatedly over the past days my Zope instance has vanished (or stopped, crashed) with some peculiar stupid.log entries: 2003-05-03T14:37:58 ERROR(200) ZODB A storage error occured during transaction abort. This shouldn't happen. Traceback (innermost last): File /usr/local/zope/Zope-2.6.1-src/lib/python/ZODB/Transaction.py, line 261, in commit File /usr/local/zope/Zope-2.6.1-src/lib/python/ZODB/Transaction.py, line 392, in _commit_error AttributeError: Surrogate instance has no attribute '_p_oid' I do not know what this might mean, but i'm curious - or should i say worried :). At first i thought this might be a problem using exUserFolder (with Radius remote authentication of users) so i replaced it (i read somewhere a discussion about commit errors and ZMySQLDA interfering with exUserFolder - or so it seemed). But still these problems kept appearing. So, i'm wondering, might this be caused because my script isn't threadsafe (whatever that might mean)? Is this a common error? Can anyone please enlighten me? Zope & apache

Although some people have suggested that running zope standalone without apache is the recommended way to go, I have heard several people suggest that the Apache solution is preferred. There are a lot of "it depends" qualifiers here. What I've heard is that running Zope behind Apache may provide more better system security. I think the rationale is that apache is more heavily debugged. (This argument may be questionable, as you have two families of bug to deal with though.) It also allows you to run other kinds of apache-based service. It also provides maximum flexibility. A key issue is to configure your httpd.conf file that specifies apache's behaviour file with suitable rewrite rules so that some/most/all requests are handed off to zope instead of being dealt with by apache. At any rate, it's what I do. I believe there are (at least) 2 common ways of doing it. The one I selected is based on "PCGI". Essentially the zope process stays active and apache talks to it via a lightweight intermediate process. It's actually quite easy to set up. Troy, OK, well for the purpose of this example, and where I'm starting, is with CMF Metadata, such as the title. A user enters the metadata using their regular keyboards and so on, which means the accented characters are typed in in ISO-8859-1, and stored as such I guess? (since technically this value isn't HTML, it should be stored in it's native character set) Now when I output the Title, it comes out in ISO-8859-1 properly, but I'd like to force it encoded as an HTML entity, so when a user enters the word "région" in the Title, it'll be entered/saved that way, and by default be output that way, but ... My understanding was that uting html_quote would transform that into "région" ... But it's not doing anything different for me. Same with entity notation, &dtml-Title; doesn't do the html_quoting either. This is using the default metadata templates, or close enough that changes I have made shouldn't matter (I've extended the metadata, but not modified the existing DC setup). Am I misunderstanding the purpose of this command? Or is there something else I'm not getting?
