Get caller context

Hi All I have a folderish python object that has a method. I want to be able to call this method using the context of the place I call it from and not the place where the method is. Example: ROOT -----/ myObject (has a python method named myMethod) -----/ folder ----/folderMethod (ZPT) I call myMethod of the myObject from the folderMethod of the folder object. I want to execute myMethod in the context of the folder object. I don't want to use REQUEST['HTTP_REFERER']. How can I identify the caller(referer) object of the myMethod? Thanks a lot, Dragos

Zope security question

Hi, I'm a fairly new Zope user and am trying to securely configure it. One thing I'd like to do, but haven't been able to find any info on, is to configure Zope so that it will only allow a user 3 failed login attempts. After this I'd like to be able to either deny them access or at least delay their access and have the event logged. Is this possible? I'm using Zope 2.7.0 on Red Hat. We've tried using the combination of FreeTDS drivers, UnixODBC and egenix's mxODBC Zope DA that is mentioned in a previous post. It does work, however we have had problems with concurrency causing deadlocks and freezing the Zope process. This does not happen when running Zope on Windows 2000 and connecting to MSSQL. Give FreeTDS/UnixODBC/mxODBC a try and see how you go first - later on you can always swap in the ODBC-ODBC bridge or whatever instead of FreeTDS/UnixODBC. ZODB vs LocalFS

Hi, I'm working on a Zope application that will store a bunch of openoffice documents that users change on a regular basis. I am not completely sure about using the ZODB for this for a few reasons, and I can't find complete documentation on the ZODB. These openoffice filess will be changed often and may be large. I think that ZODB keeps all old copies of a file each time it changes. Changing large openoffice documents all the time would make the ZODB huge, right? Can I make ZODB only store the most recent version of these files, instead of keeping a history of all the versions? I have also looked into using LocalFS and storing them on my file system. Is that the best way to go? OpenOffice has history and versioning built in so I won't be getting any benefit from keeping a history of old versions, just wasting disk space. Can I set ZODB to only keep the last 3 versions of a file and erase older versions all together? Is there any good ZODB documentation you can point me to? I've picked up things here and there from the Zope Book but I'm still don't know much about ZODB. Also, as for LocalFS I could hardly find anything. Try adding a re-write rule for /manage as well. RewriteRule ^/manage(.*) \ http://localhost:9080/VirtualHostBase/http/%{SERVER_NAME}:80/VirtualHost Root/manage$1 [L,P] But you will also need the following to get the images (object icons, etc...) RewriteRule ^/_p(.*) \ http://localhost:9080/VirtualHostBase/http/%{SERVER_NAME}:80/VirtualHost Root/_p$1 [L,P] Put these before your catch-all rule. In all truth, I never put the _vh_ stuff in the re-write paths, partly because I myself never quite understood their use.
