Embedding ZPublisher - problem!

Hi, I am fighting a bit with a ZPublisher problem: I have a Data.fs containting a script /folder/folder2/myscript which just performs a "return context.REQUEST.text()". I want to call this script directly through the ZPublisher (not using ZServer) since Zope should be embedded into another application. Random Images: How to defeat the cache

I'm trying to make a quick and dirty random image product. It is a zClass based off of OFS::Folder. The index_html method is as follows: context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.setHeader( 'Cache-Control' ,'no-cache' ) context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.setHeader( 'Pragma' ,'no-cache' ) image_set = [] images = context.objectValues('Image') for each in images: image_set.append(each) return_image = image_set[random.choice(range(0,len(image_set)))] return return_image.index_html(context.REQUEST,context.REQUEST.RESPONSE) This works fine as long as one shift-reloads the image. Otherwise it does not change the image. Obviously my attempts to defeat the browser cache are not succeeding. Can anyone tell me why?

Current Folder

Hello. Is there a simple way I can get access to the id/title of the folder that my DTML document is in? I have done this before but don't recall how. Essentially, I am trying to access the id/title of the parent(i.e. folder) in which my index_html resides. One way is to use the PARENTS variable. Is there a simpler way which would give me access to only the parent object and not all the parents up to the root. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

non-zope objects in zope

I used to be a fairly knowledgable zope user many years ago, but things have moved on and I've forgotten most of what I know. I have a largish library of python modules which define a number of classes which have methods that perform work in a product. Currently, much of the system is managed vai commandline tools which utilize the library. We want to ad a web interface, and I figured zope would be a natural, since everything is already in python. I created external methods which return instances of classes, but if I try to use those instances from within dtml (iterating over a list of them, for instance), I just get prompted for authentication credentials. I seem to recall that there was some way of applying zopishness to external object instances at runtime, but I can't remember what that mechanism is, and I couldn't find it in either the zope book or the zope bible I went out an bought. How do you tell the current user load?

Is there any way to determine how many users are connected to the Zope server? I need to reboot the server to do a hardware upgrade but I'd like to know if anyone important is currently logged on. It seems like a simple common task but I can't find the answer anywhere. I guess I don't know what question to ask. Joe Goldthwaite

Mozilla Hate My zClasses

I have created a 2 zClasses, one that is a CatalogAware File, one that is a CatalogAware Page Template. I recently noticed a most peculiar problem. Mozilla browsers cannot "Save Link As..." any content that is one of these zClasses "The Link Could Not Be Saved. The Web Page Might Have Been Moved or Renamed". Perusing the logs, I'm noticing that Mozilla browsers HEAD the files before they try to download them. Medusa returns 405 - Method Not Allowed for this command on these zClasses. Internet Explorer just skips straight to the GET, which works fine. How can I fix this? I have some idea where a HEAD method would need to go, but I'm not really sure what should be in it. Ed

Well this is what I was trying to do: I am passing a userid value from a list. For example, userid username useremail 1 jack jack(a)blah.com [edit] [edit] is a link that will direct the user to an edit form. The link is created like this with a variable userid to differentiate between users such as, userEdit_Form?userid=1 <td><span><a tal:attributes="href python: 'userEdit_Form?userid=' + str(userid)">[edit]</a></span></td> So when I go to the edit form the fields will be pre-populated with the user information from what user was select which is identified by the userid. Then you can edit any field you want and leave any fields unchanged and click on submit and the user information will be updated. You used thomething like: <input tal:content="whatever" /> With tal:content you can modify the content between the start and end tag. <b tal:content="string:hello world">dummy content</b> will render: <b>hello world</b> But <input></input> is no valid XHTML ...
