Replacement UserFolder

I need to replace acl_users for a given folder (thankfully not the root) with something that will read from a database AND do cookie-based authentication (so HTML login screen, rather than basic auth). SimpleUserFolder, which was a snap to set up, doesn't seem to do the latter. PluggableUserFolder 2.4.1 seemed to not like Zope 2.7. A previous workplace used GenericUserFolder, but it's rather obsolete. Suggestions? -roy

LocalFS 1.3 for Zope2.7.1 released

EasyLeading.org is happy to announce the release of LocalFS 1.3-andreas. LocalFS lets you deliver static files from your local file system. The new version uses a filestream_iterator implementation introduced with Zope2.7.1. The major enhancement is to allow LocalFS to serve static files from the filesystem without first needing to read all file data into memory or explicitly chunking data from static files out via RESPONSE.write (both of which are slower than just letting medusa itself handle the output via a native producer). If LocalFS can't import filestream_iterator it uses the old method to serve files. Zope 2.7.0 and Plone 2 - No module named ZopeSplitter

Hi I have installed Zope 2.7.0, Python 2.3.3 and CMF1.4. on a SuSE 8.2 Enterprise Server. I have created a ZOPE_SOFTWARE , ZOPE_INSTANCE and a ZOPEPRODUCTS dir for third-party and plone packages. Zope is running ok. I get the following error when I try to add a Plone Site. Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Error Type : ImportError Error Value : No module named ZopeSplitter I have checked my zope.conf file products directive = /local/sw/zope/zopeproducts and ZopeSplitter reside in /local/sw/zope/zopeproducts/PluginIndex/TestIndex/Splitter/ZopeSlipter Can someone explain if I have missed something or must run a python script or something to enable this to run I didn't have any problems deploying Plone site on our existing Zope 2.6.3 site . direct access to zodb question

I am trying to access the zodb directly from a python program (instead of via an external method), in order to process large volumes of updates (adding about 900k records to a zcatalog): So far I have: #!/apps/zope/bin/python import os, sys sys.path.append("/apps/zope/lib/python") import Zope app=Zope.app() Which works fine. I can see existing objects within a folder by: for item in app.sw.WebSitesFolder.WebSitesMasterData.objectItems(): print str(item) However, when I try to create new objects (zclass instances) using: REQUEST = app.REQUEST REQUEST.set('id', '100') newobj = app.sw.WebSitesFolder.WebSitesChildData.manage_addProduct['SWV2'].WebSites.c reateInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST) I get the following error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "./jhtst.py", line 14, in ? app.REQUEST.set('id', '100') AttributeError: set I have also discovered that REQUEST.get also generates an error. Apparently my REQUEST is not the 'normal' zope REQUEST. When I "print str(REQUEST)" I get: <Special Object Used to Force Acquisition> Does anyone have any ideas as to how to make this work!!!??? At least it worked for me lately: comment out 'temp_folder' from _reservered_names in lib/python/OFS/Application.py restart zope. delete temp_folder. restart zope. a new temp_folder should be there. Hi, I just made a dirty hack for logging the ip-address. the patch is attached, you need to set trusted-proxy to make it work. I've been meaning to post this for a while.. here's a quick progress report for http://zopewiki.org so far. April: good initial activity, about half a dozen editors May: quiet, basically no editors other than me; minor downtime June: steady low edit & new editor rate; noticeable downtime due to zope hangs due to zpydoc triggering a python/extension class bug, now worked around I think people are finding the site useful. I certainly am. I need to set up some access stats. http://zopewiki.org/ZopeWikiStats currently shows 345 pages, 86 of them rated, of which 16 have 2 or more votes. 22 sites and 60 products have pages. Products have been grouped into rough categories which seems to be helpful, see http://zopewiki.org/ZopeProduct . An experimental all pages index has been added to the front page. The footer was fixed so that it shows random quotes and tips from various pages. http://zopewiki.org/ZopeLists is quite useful for finding things in the lists. Open site issues (see http://zwiki.org/FilterIssues/filterissues?sort_on=severity_index&titlesear… ): - except in minimal mode, page load times are a little slower than they should be. - the site restarts about once a day to work around an unknown memory leak. The first page load or two after a restart will be rather slow. Open questions: what impact is the site having; how to integrate better with other sites/irc/etc. Site announcements are found at http://zopewiki.org/ZopeWikiNews ; the latest post also appears on the front page. http://zopewiki.org/ZopeWikiDiscussion has been quiet - most discussion takes place on #zope. [ANN] Zwiki 0.32 released

Zwiki 0.32 (july edition) has been released, a little late due to a client work crunch (and a weekend floating down the Kern river). Summary: Zwiki's skin is about fully internationalised; translation updates, new polish, dutch & german translations; skin cleanups; pluggable page types; refactoring, bugfixes. ( http://zwiki.org/ReleaseNotes ) This was another month of i18n progress. Both the standard and plone skins, including the standard DTML-based pages if you install those, are now fully internationalised via PlacelessTranslationService - great work all. Welcome to new translators/developers Marek Ciesielski, Jakub Wisniowski, Jaap Noordzij, Andreas Mayer. Users won't see much else new since 0.31, just the usual bugfixes. Behind the scenes, there has been another page types refactoring - these are now in separate modules and it's easier to add new ones, see pagetypes/. Several contributors are successfully using darcs now ( http://zwiki.org/ZwikiDarcs ) and this is helping us to share and integrate patches quicker. Best wishes, -Simon

instal plone and cps

Hello, I have a debian woody on a powerpc. I would like to install Plone 2.0.3 and CPS 3.1.1. I would like to know what is the best way to do that. Can I make an installation of Zope 2.7 and python 2.3.3 and make two instances of Zope? Thanks for your advices. Sophie
