Production Advice

Greetings All, After a long dev cycle, I'm putting a Zope web app into production shortly... and need some advice. What is a good daily backup strategy with Zope 2.71? I'll be running ZEO, and only use three add-on products, Formulator, VarImage and PIL. My application consists of regular items in the ZODB, two python Products, and a half-dozen ZClasses Right now, I'm developing on a WinXP machine, and am considering SuSE 9.1 for my spec, any experiences, good or bad?... YAST2-installed or manually? All advice would be helpful as I weigh my options, -Jon Cyr cyrj(a)cyr.info

manage_beforeDelete

Hi all! I have a class like these: class Test(CatalogAware, , OrderedFolder): def manage_beforeDelete(self, item, container): CatalogAware.manage_beforeDelete(item, container) OrderedFolder.manage_beforeDelete(item, container) I only put the relevant code If I delete de hook to manage_beforeDelete the class works fine (the objects disappear from the catalog) but if I put the function the catalog don't delete the objects any idea? Thanks!!

doc string rules

I just had LocalFS break under Zope 2.6.4 with Python 2.3.4 due to a "missing docstring". What are the current rules? Must everything (procedures, methods, classes, modules) have docstrings? Even when running with Z_DEBUG_MODE set to "yes".

I was looking at stats this morning for my Zope installation and thought it would be fun to share with others what you are running and how many hits your Zope server did this year (not counting the last 3 days of course). Pages: 4,025,657 Hits: 21,783,750 Bandwidth: 68.27 GB Hardware: AMD 2.133, 1.5 GB RAM, RAID 1 w/ 2 x 36GB SCSI Zope: 2.7b4, CMF 1.4, Plone 2.0 and many products That is almost 30% more than I did last year. LocalFS problems with @import-ing stylesheets

Hi We've just upgraded to using LocalFS (LocalFS-1-3-andreas for the large file support) with Zope 2.7.2, and have been experiencing problems with accessing stylesheets via the @import command from within a LocalFS folder. eg: <style type="text/css" media="screen">  </style> where /site is the LocalFS folder. The problem only manifests itself using Mozilla browsers (Mozilla, Firefox, etc), and when using these browsers stylesheets are successfully requested (according to the Apache access logs) but are ignored within the page. The stylesheet validates, and works as expected if moved inline within the page, or when created as a Zope File object, rather than within LocalFS. This all worked fine on the previous versions of LocalFS we were using (1.1.0) with Zope 2.6.4. Any ideas if this is a Zope or a LocalFS thing? PIL: can't call same method twice

Hi, I encounter a problem, that I can not explain at all: I have an external method to resize an image (see below). I can call the method without a problem from a script within Zope and it does it's job. Hovever, if I call it twice within the same script, I get the error "can not identify image" although the same FileUpload instance is passed. My (dummy-)script looks something like this: # call the ext. method 'resize' one or more times x=1 # does not work for x >1 image=context.REQUEST.image # passed from a html-form for i in range(0,x): foo = context.resize(image, size=size) the external method 'resize' looks like this: def resize(self, image, size=200, resample='ANTIALIAS'): from PIL import Image image=Image.open(image) [...] I have no idea what the problem could be or where to look.
