I have found a similar problem at this url: http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2000-August/115809.html I want to do the same a Kapil, but in DTML. I tried different solutions: 1)<dtml-with "PARENTS[0]"><dtml-var absolute_url></dtml-with> 2)<dtml-var "PARENTS[0].absolute_url()"> but I still have the problem. I wannt to display (in DTML) the absolute URL of the parent, but it doesn't work: it displays the absolute url of the CURRENT object. could you help me to find the solution please? thanks (and excuse for my lack in english)

ZEO and Sessions.

Hi again people, I've just read the article about SESSIONS in the upcoming ZOPE Book 2.7. Here, we have ZEO running, and I need to use SESSION and ZEO. I read the article http://www.zope.org/Members/randy/ZEO-Sessions. Isn't there a easy way to do this? I was wondering if I couldn just createa new filestorage entry in the zeo.conf, and add some lines in my zope.conf file. Thanks. Fernando Lujan

how to generate debug.log for requestprofiler

At some point btn Zope 2.6.2 and 2.7.4, it seems way you set up a logfile to be used by requestprofiler.py has changed. Now I need "debug.log" - whats the proper way to generate one? I've just been googling and can't find explicit instructions about this. Doing runzope or zopectl with -M aren't working, and there is no obvious directive in zope.conf for it. Unless I am supposed to configure a logger at DEBUG level myself, from the zope.conf and make sure it's called debug.log, but this doesn't seem right.... Any suggestions? Thanks, Jim

backing up zope files

Hi, I am trying to find out how I can back up all the zope files related to a particular project on the file system. I want to able to store the zope code in CVS. I use ftp to store the files from zope on the file system. But when I put back the files in the Zope area using ftp, the properties of the files all get converted to DTML and the application cannot be used. I know there is a utility called "PUT_factory" that allows you to specify the zope object you want, but I think this utility is not very useful when you want to convert to certain types of objects(e.g ZSQLmethod). I want to find out if there is a more graceful way of preserving zope object properties while backing up zope files to the file system? Thanks for any help, A.

Some problem about Data.fs

Hello, all The file Data.fs is growing up if we use zope. However, may it cause some hang problem? Or some file system problem may be raised because there are only files named Data.fs.* for storing object. It may cause some problem if the objects are more and more. Wow! It is amazing if we have a lot of objects storing here. tuples of length 2 in DTML

Tuples of length 2 just don't seem to work in DTML. I don't know what it is, certainly never seen any documented explanation before. The simple test below explains itself . Can anyone explain why the results are what they are? I'd go to the collector if it didn't seem like such a glaringly obvious quirk. METALError:incompatible version error when try to do use-macro and python script

Hi: I am getting a METALError when I try to do use-macro in ZPT. Here is my code in main_template.pt ..... ...... <div metal:use-macro="here/subtab/macros/tools_sub"> </div> <div metal:use-macro="python:here.getSubTab()"> </div> .... .... The first use-macro works (as I put the full macro path), But the 2nd call does not work and giving the error. I am basically returning 'here/subtab/macros/tools_sub' from the getSubTab() py script. ( my script has one line for testing - return 'here/subtab/macros/tools_sub' Any help to resolve this is greatly appreciated. The problem is that sorting mostly happens in 3rd party products, and they will call sequence.sort with 'locale' and 'locale_nocase' and such, and not with my custom comparison function. OK, I could then patch the sequence.sort of Zope, so it is UTF-8 aware even with 'locale' and with 'locale_nocase'. But still not good, because there will be places where Python's locale.strcoll is used, and worst maybe both sequence.sort and locale.strcoll is used regarding the same sequence on different places, and then there will be inconsistencies. So after all I should patch Python, which is really out of my competence. Sorting is broken with UTF-8?

I have a Zope 2.7.0(+Plone) instance that uses utf-8 encoding everywhere. The problem is that alphabetical sorting (like with DocumentTemplate.sequence.sort(seq, 'locale', ...)) is broken everywhere: accented letters come after all US-ASCII characters. I have locale=hu_HU.UTF-8 in zope.conf, still it seems that the collation algorithm can't handle UTF-8 encoded strings correctly, and since 0x80 is higher than the code of the US-ASCII characters, a character that is out of the US-ASCII range will be later than the US-ASCII ones. Actually Python can't sort UTF-8 with strcoll either (at least I couldn't achieve that), I guess the root of the problem is there. So, what should I do now? UTF-8 charset doesn't work in reality with Zope so I should forget it and switch to ISO-8859-x? -- Best regards, Daniel Dekany
