Thanks the request var is set but the next line for redirection ie. return context.index_html renders a new page with text : <ZopePageTemplate at index_html> is there some object in context which refers to the self page. plz help. Don't use a python script for this code. I've to set the value of a hidden form field by a cookie value. e.g; invalidval request/cookies/login|nothing; i tried this : <input name="invalid" type="hidden" value="string: ${invalidval}"> and also this <input name="invalid" type="hidden" tal:attributes="value invalidval"> but it is rendering the text in quotes directly. what is the correct way. -- Share the vision of difference with ME

dtml-tree issue

Hello, I want to use dtml-tree. I want to populate this tree using an external method that like this one: getChildren(parent_id) => [child, child, child, ......] where "parent_id" is a string and each child is a node (python object). My problem is what kind of object must each node be, in order for the dtml-tree to work properly... The dtml-method is like this (example, hierarchy of links): <dtml-tree id=LINK braches_expr="getChildren(LINK)"> <a href="<dtml-var LINK>"><dtml-var TITLE></a> </dtml-tree> I tried a dictionary, but i cannot retrieve the "LINK" in the branches_expr. I made a class in the External Method with attributes "LINK" and "TITLE", but i get unauthorized exceptions... Thanks for any help, Vangelis

login page problem

I'm creatin a customised login page template using districtname, user name and password. i got halt in d logic for password checking. after submitting d login form how do i call d same page if the passwd is wrong along with d req params passed? do i need an ext python script for this redirection. also tell how to set session data in ZPTs from the form fields? -- Share the vision of difference with ME

*grin* true enough. at its simplest level, I've been trying to just import xmlrpclib and use it normally in scripts. I used my __init__.py to allow_module('xmlrpclib'), which has stopped it from throwing security errors. however, when I actually run a test script, I get the following: Error Type: Fault Error Value: <Fault 1: 'exceptions.Exception:method "echo.__roles__.__contains__" is not supported'> error_log has this traceback: Traceback (innermost last): Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 101, in publish Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 39, in call_object Module Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings, line 306, in __call__ Module Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings, line 343, in _bindAndExec Module Products.PythonScripts.PythonScript, line 323, in _exec Module None, line 5, in testXRPC - <PythonScript at /pro4/testXRPC> - Line 5 Module xmlrpclib, line 1029, in __call__ Module xmlrpclib, line 1316, in __request Module xmlrpclib, line 1080, in request Module xmlrpclib, line 1219, in _parse_response Module xmlrpclib, line 742, in close Fault: <Fault 1: 'exceptions.Exception:method "echo.__roles__.__contains__" is not supported'> I can watch the "POST /RPC2" messages increment on my xml-rpc server, so I know the message is getting through. but the xmlrpc server isn't built with Zope in mind, so "__roles__.__contains__" makes it cough a Fault back at me. the code I have in the python script is as simple as: <code> import xmlrpclib server = xmlrpclib.ServerProxy("http://localhost:9999") server.echo('this is a test') </code> echo just sends the recieved string back. it works from command line, but that's not surprising... I could be wrong about where or how it's failing, but the traceback looks like the message is getting there, and returning with the "echo" method having been wrapped in a zope security check, thus faulting at the server... question about manipulating zcatalog query results

Hello all, I've moved a zope 2.5.1 (python 2.1.3) installation to two newer locations (zope 2.7.4/python 2.3.4 and zope 2.7.5/python 2.3.5) and scripts I have that iterate over zcatalog results using 'for' loops now fail with "global name '_getiter_' is not defined." I'm also unable to take the zcatalog result and manipulate it (split or concatenate instances sent to a list) without getting a "Record objects do not support [whatever action]"--even if I've asigned the result to another list and am operating on that list. ie--I used to be able to say: for row in result: res.append(row.id.split().pop(), row) but now can't, and can't even iterate over the list using a while loop, as the split will fail. I've found some reference to the _getiter_ problem on the forum, but the queries date from nearly a year ago, and there were no fixes at the time (save to wait for 7.4 to come out of beta). Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a workaround? What am I missing? thanks for any help/advice ira
