Why do you want to recode into DTML? I think that is piece of good code and much faster than DTML. Production Advice

Greetings All, After a long dev cycle, I'm putting a Zope web app into production shortly... and need some advice. What is a good daily backup strategy with Zope 2.71? I'll be running ZEO, and only use three add-on products, Formulator, VarImage and PIL. My application consists of regular items in the ZODB, two python Products, and a half-dozen ZClasses Right now, I'm developing on a WinXP machine, and am considering SuSE 9.1 for my spec, any experiences, good or bad?... YAST2-installed or manually? All advice would be helpful as I weigh my options, -Jon Cyr cyrj(a)cyr.info

manage_beforeDelete

Hi all! I have a class like these: class Test(CatalogAware, , OrderedFolder): def manage_beforeDelete(self, item, container): CatalogAware.manage_beforeDelete(item, container) OrderedFolder.manage_beforeDelete(item, container) I only put the relevant code If I delete de hook to manage_beforeDelete the class works fine (the objects disappear from the catalog) but if I put the function the catalog don't delete the objects any idea? Thanks!!

doc string rules

I just had LocalFS break under Zope 2.6.4 with Python 2.3.4 due to a "missing docstring". What are the current rules? Must everything (procedures, methods, classes, modules) have docstrings? Even when running with Z_DEBUG_MODE set to "yes".

Access log

Hi all, I am hosting several virtual hosts and I need to provide access log reports (like awstats) for my clients. I would like to know if any of the following alternatives is possible: 1. Is it possible to have diferent access log files for each virtual host? 2. Is it possible to include the "%v" (virtualhost) field in the current access log? I'm using Zope 2.6 from Debian sarge. What did your Zope server do in 2004?

I was looking at stats this morning for my Zope installation and thought it would be fun to share with others what you are running and how many hits your Zope server did this year (not counting the last 3 days of course). Pages: 4,025,657 Hits: 21,783,750 Bandwidth: 68.27 GB Hardware: AMD 2.133, 1.5 GB RAM, RAID 1 w/ 2 x 36GB SCSI Zope: 2.7b4, CMF 1.4, Plone 2.0 and many products That is almost 30% more than I did last year. LocalFS problems with @import-ing stylesheets

Hi We've just upgraded to using LocalFS (LocalFS-1-3-andreas for the large file support) with Zope 2.7.2, and have been experiencing problems with accessing stylesheets via the @import command from within a LocalFS folder. eg: <style type="text/css" media="screen">  </style> where /site is the LocalFS folder. The problem only manifests itself using Mozilla browsers (Mozilla, Firefox, etc), and when using these browsers stylesheets are successfully requested (according to the Apache access logs) but are ignored within the page. The stylesheet validates, and works as expected if moved inline within the page, or when created as a Zope File object, rather than within LocalFS. This all worked fine on the previous versions of LocalFS we were using (1.1.0) with Zope 2.6.4. Any ideas if this is a Zope or a LocalFS thing? Plone doesn't show up in the Zope Interface - ./runzope issue

Hello This is my first experience of unix installs from source and I need a small amount of help to finish off my installation. I've installed Zope and Python from source, remotely, onto a RedHat box and am able to access the browser based ZMI admin screen remotely. I've followed the following instructions for getting Plone up and running but on stopping and starting the zope instance, Plone isn't available. I've tried stopping the service using the ZMI and restarting using telnet. 1. Download Plone 2 from http://www.plone.org/download, and select the tarball file. 2. Unzip the archive using the following: tar xzf CMFPlone2.0.tar.gz 3. You'll find that a directory has been created called CMFPlone-xxx, where xxx is the version (for example, CMFPlone-2.0). 4. Move the contents of that directory into your Zope installation's Product directory. For example, if the Zope Products directory is in /var/zope, then do this: mv CMFPlone2.0/ /var/zope/Products* The zope products directory is /home/zopeinstance/Products/ which lists Plone-2.0.5 I also have an issue where running /home/zopeinstance/bin/runzope using ./runzope as the zopeinstance user starts the service but the Unix prompt just hangs and doesn't do anything. I am able to get the browser management screen but on exiting the telnet session the service stops. Would anyone have any ideas at all? By the way ./start_zope and ./stop_zope from the core /zopeinstance directory don't seem to work. Thanks for any help Michael
