Can't Install Plone!

Hi; I'm working with Plone 2.1.2/Zope 2.7.8. I've had no trouble adding Plone sites before this. I was in my server working with some of the products I'd installed, all of which had been installed for some time. I went to install a new Plone for test purposes. Zope + WebDav + davfs and vim

Hi. Has anyone run successful Zope with davfs? I have problems when i try edit and save some files or when i try create new files. I have also problems with Zope and curlftpfs. When i save one file and then i try edit others it doesn't work (i must kill vim and curlftpfs). Debug doesn't say where is the problem...

A Quick Event-based Cataloging How-to for Zope 2

Hi All, Just been playing with this and found it remarkably easy, so thought I'd pass it on. If anyone can think of a better place than the mailing list archives for this, please let me know! Anyway, so I'm building a Zope 2 app where I need to index objects that are not catalog aware when they're added, modified or removed. To make things harder, this also needs to work via WebDAV. OK, so here's the solution: 1. Create yourself a python module called subscribers.py and put it on your python path, containing the following: from Acquisition import aq_base from zope.interface import Interface class ICatalogAware(Interface): pass def catalog(object,event): if aq_base(object) is object: # ObjectModified can get emitted during creation, # before the object has any acquisition context return object.getPhysicalRoot().unrestrictedTraverse( '/catalog' ).catalog_object(object) def uncatalog(object,event): object.getPhysicalRoot().unrestrictedTraverse( '/catalog' ).uncatalog_object('/'.join(object.getPhysicalPath())) 2. Slap the ICatalogAware marker interface on any classes you want to have indexed. Here's an example for the good old File object. Put the following in your site.zcml: <class class="OFS.Image.File"> <implements interface="subscribers.ICatalogAware"/> </class> 3. Finally, wire up the events so that files get indexed when they're created, modified or removed, again by adding the following to site.zcml: <subscriber handler="subscribers.catalog" for="ICatalogAware zope.app.container.contained.ObjectAddedEvent" /> <subscriber handler="subscribers.catalog" for="ICatalogAware zope.app.container.contained.ObjectModifiedEvent" /> <subscriber handler="subscribers.uncatalog" for="ICatalogAware zope.app.container.contained.ObjectRemovedEvent" /> 4. which operating system quandry

I know it has been asked many times which os is best for zope, I have yet to see a 'system administration perspective' in the discussion. By this I mean which os seems to have the most worry free administration of a zope instances. I have installed zope on both FreeBSD and various linucies and here is what I have observed: 1) Freebsd ports collection is an easy way to install zope -- the ports maintainer takes care of making the build files to handle all the zope dependencies including python versions, libraries, etc. However, I have yet to use portupgrade to apply security patches to zope instances running on freebsd. Does anyone know of using cvsupdate for getting security patches works over the ports collection of zope smoothly? 2) I've run zope on Red Hat and Suse linux. In both cases I found that I needed to install a different version of python than the one packaged with the distro becuase Zope had specific dependencies for new versions python. Applying patches to zope is manual. It has always been very inconvenient to build python and PIL in a separate run instances for zope. This seems like a major pain in the ... 3) I have never run zope on windows except for test versions of plone that were loaded through binary installers -- completely packaged with python and zope. While this is convenient, I don't know if I want to run a windows server for any publicly accessible site. 4) I am very interested to know how others manage zope sites. Are there any best practices? ZopeScheduler issue

Hi I've set up ZopeScheduler and TimerService to run a basic pack the ZODB script based on a time period. It won't run for some reason. TimerService starts up fine and listend. I get this in the log but no info on a script being run. I have the correct path and time info in ZopeScheduler. Zope 2.8.7 Windows. Hello Michael and Paul, This one would have to be an external method since the external server doesn't offer XMLRPC. It's also made more difficult by the fact that ssl will have to be involved. I'm going hunting for a better way but I will certainly be using XMLRPC for some other functionality that's required. cheers and thanks, David

Hi, Query in the topic from postgresql database returns from psql line, years, months and days. From testing same query in zope i get only days, is there a way to force it to return as psql does return it? Hi, I would like to know what is the use of implementing the Zpublisher.Iterators.IStreamIterator on the object returned as the body of a HTTP response. As far as I could read the Zope code (Zserver, etc), this will make the response data to be sent 64k at a time. So will this improve performance/concurrency in any way for >64k data HTTP responses? Path expression in Python based script

Hi, I am beginner working with Zope. I like it but I have some doubts: I have an structure with folders and subfoulders, each folder and subfolder has items. I want to go round this structre with a Python based script, to know the number of elements i do the following: path="animals" items=len(context.sections.path.contentValues()) When I try to run the script I get an error saying that the variable "path" is not present. If i do: items=len(context.sections.animals.contentValues()) everything is ok, How can I refer to a variable into a path expression in a Python Based Script?
