I have this error trying to launch the instance: Error: could not load package Products.rotatezlogs: No module named rotatezlogs Package name: 'Products.rotatezlogs' File name: 'component.xml' Package path: None Is strange because with this rotatezlogs (1.0) and the same zope.conf works fine in other computers I own Any idea? silly DTML question: "in" test

I'm trying to do something in a DTML-Method (in ancient Zope 2.6.2) that seems like it should be really simple, but I can't get it right. I want to see if a value (defined via url-arg) is in a list which is generated from an RDBMS query (field type=integer). The pseudo-code would be something like: if foo in (select foo_col from table where x=y) then z='t' else z='f' I tried putting the simple SELECT query into a zSql and then calling it like: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('foo_list',IfShowNextDoor())"> <dtml-if expr="foo in foo_list"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('z','t')"> <dtml-else> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('z','f')"> </dtml-if> But that doesn't work.

Doubled traversal stacks when using vhosting

Hi List, I am running Zope 2.10.4 and set up a virtual host with a rewrite rule in apache 2.2. The rewrite rule I got from the witch. (http://betabug.ch/zope/witch) It looks like this: ServerName www.myproduct RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^($|/.*) \ http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/\ http/%{SERVER_NAME}:80/MyProduct/VirtualHostRoot$1 [L,P] ProxyVia on The MyProduct object has a pre-traversal hook installed. There are two items involved when visiting the url of the product: the index_html of the object and a style.css. When I go to the direct url http://127.0.0.1:8080/MyProduct/, the traversal stacks look like this: [] ['style.css', 'css'] But when I go to the vhost url http://www.myproduct/, it looks like this: ['/', 'virtual_hosting'] [] ['style.css', 'css', '/', 'virtual_hosting'] ['style.css', 'css'] Since I want to modify the traversal stack a little bit to do some kind of dispatching, I am slightly confused, where the '/', 'virtual_hosting' part is coming from and how I should handle it. The second issue is that when I go to the direct url a second time, the style.css doesn't pop up anymore (which is fine... seems to be cached or so). But when I go to the vhost url a second time, I get the very same traversal stacks each time. Thanks, Andreas

Accessing Zope REQUEST data from a Python module

I'm customizing a product. To do what I'm trying to do, I need to be able to access REQUEST data from within a Python module (not a script; a .py file containing class and method definitions). >From within a script, a line like req = context.REQUEST does the job just fine. But when I put that line into my product module, I get a message like: Name "context" not defined and I don't see any way to import that into my module. At (http://www.plope.com/Books/2_7Edition/AppendixB.stx#0-8) the Zope API Reference describes the module "HTTPRequest", which includes the class that it calls "HTTPRequest(BaseRequest)", which apparently is the equivalent of REQUEST as described above. I have put this line into my module: from ZPublisher.HTTPRequest import HTTPRequest but now I don't know how to reference the request's contents. I put in this line: req = HTTPRequest and print "req" to a debug file, and it shows: ZPublisher.HTTPRequest.HTTPRequest which I don't understand. I have tried a half-dozen ways (suggested by the Zope API Reference) to get an actual property of the current HTTPRequest, but without success. Examples: req['URL'] -> "TypeError: unsubscriptable object" req.get('URL') -> "TypeError: unbound method get() must be called with HTTPRequest instance as first argument (got str instance instead)" req.keys() -> "TypeError: unbound method keys() must be called with HTTPRequest instance as first argument (got nothing instead)" The last two suggest that, while I have successfully imported the HTTPRequest *class*, I haven't successfully gotten the current HTTPRequest *instance*. I don't know how to do that. So, I need an answer to any one of these questions: 1. How can the Zope global name "context" be defined or imported into a non-script Python module? 2. How can one get the current instance of the class "HTTPRequest" into a non-script Python module? 3. If I'm looking in the wrong direction, what is the right way to make the current REQUEST's data available in a non-script Python module? ~ TIA ~ Ken

temporary exclude page from ram-cache

Hi all, I have RAM-cached page that looks for data from SQLdb. For error suppression (yea, I use MSSQL which make sometime unbelievable SQL error with the same errorless query) I use try-except wrapper, but in some cases page is cached without db results for a looooong time. I know how to invalidate already rendered page from a ram cache, but I does not know how to temporal disable RAM-cache during rendering of that page. Many thanks, J. Lukesh

Permissions on Z MySQL Database connection

I am trying to secure a Z MySQL Database connection. Specifically, I don't want anyone other than the Owner to be able to see the Properties page (since that contains database password details). I've tried changing various permissions but none do what I want. "Change Database Connections" controls changing the connection on the Properties page but doesn't prevent viewing. "View Management screens" controls access to the Status page. "View", "Manage properties", "Access contents information" have no obvious effect. Could anyone provide any suggestions? Thanks Cameron

pointers on predicting ZODB size based on size of files to be imported?

Hi Is there any documentation anywhere or advice on being able to estimate the size of a potential Zope ZODB instance based on the size of a current site? For example if you were to have a site of say 5 gb consisting of HTML pages, graphics, images, pdfs, word docs, excel files etc : are there any pointers anywhere on roughly how many gigs of ZODB this would take up? Obviously word, excel and other binary formats will likely translate to more weight... Also are there any ZODB growth prediction charts at all? -- michael
