Why do you want to recode into DTML? I think that is piece of good code and much faster than DTML. read-only-database

Hi, I'm trying to do a batch add of users to the standard acl_users folder. Note quite a total success or total failure just yet. First I made a text file (usr_pwd.txt) in the form of password space username. and placed it (temporarily) in the Extensions directory. Then an external method (LoadUsers) to read it: def LoadUsers(self): f=open('/var/lib/zope/Extensions/usr_pwd.txt', 'r') y=f.readlines() return y And a script (user_load): ## Script (Python) "user_load" ##bind container=container ##bind context=context ##bind namespace=_ ##bind script=script ##bind subpath=traverse_subpath ##parameters= ##title= ## y=context.LoadUsers() for x in y: z=x.split(' ') acl = container.restrictedTraverse( '/foobar/acl_users' ) acl.userFolderAddUser( z[1], z[0], '', '' ) return 0 I hit the Test tab and now I have an acl_users folder full of users with the correct user names, and their passwords show the correct number of characters, however I can't log in using any of the user/password combinations. Should the path '/foobar/acl_users' been simply '/foobar/' or '/foobar' ? Any suggestions? Thanks, Sean

All Of My Zope 2.6 Transactions Since 2/6/07 Are Gone!

Zope 2.6.2 on Red Hat 7.3 started acting flaky a week or two ago. It started dying every day or so. Then it lost all transactions since 2/6/07, displaying content as it was two months ago. Then it recovered the lost content, now it has lost it again. Zope Undo shows incorrectly that there were no transactions between 2/6/07 and 3/28/07 when the data loss occurred. What is the best approach to getting this data back?

We're almost finished getting the new site done completely in zope using css and mySql. We have an older portion of the old site done in php thought that we don't really want to re-write. We'd like to include it in the dtml document page that has all the common elements of every page but I'm at a loss of a way to do it other than using an inline frame. Is there a dtml include that takes a url string the way the <dtml-var> tag renders the associated file? Katie

getting a unique object id

I am needing to write an external cache mechanism for rss feeds from zope/plone. My thinking was to use feedparser, then grab the set of object attributes for the item from zope. Then, grab the actual document the feed pointed to and save it. When naming the document that I store locally, I was looking for a simple way to map the zope objectId to the file name hoping it would be unique. However, if this is not unique, is there another attribute from a zope object that I can get that would be? Problem with __before_publishing_traverse__

I have a product that looks like this:: class MyApp(Something): meta_type = 'x' def foobar(self): """ doc str """ return "xxx" def __before_publishing_traverse__(self, object, request=None): print "HOUSTON" index_html = PageTemplateFile(...) When I view objects of this class I'd expect Zope to call the __before_publishing_traverse__ hook and print HOUSTON, but it doesn't :( I started fiddling with /usr/lib/zope-2.8.8/lib/python/ZPublisher/BaseRequest.py to try to see what's going on.
