Why do you want to recode into DTML? I think that is piece of good code and much faster than DTML. read-only-database

Hi, I'm trying to do a batch add of users to the standard acl_users folder. Note quite a total success or total failure just yet. First I made a text file (usr_pwd.txt) in the form of password space username. and placed it (temporarily) in the Extensions directory. Then an external method (LoadUsers) to read it: def LoadUsers(self): f=open('/var/lib/zope/Extensions/usr_pwd.txt', 'r') y=f.readlines() return y And a script (user_load): ## Script (Python) "user_load" ##bind container=container ##bind context=context ##bind namespace=_ ##bind script=script ##bind subpath=traverse_subpath ##parameters= ##title= ## y=context.LoadUsers() for x in y: z=x.split(' ') acl = container.restrictedTraverse( '/foobar/acl_users' ) acl.userFolderAddUser( z[1], z[0], '', '' ) return 0 I hit the Test tab and now I have an acl_users folder full of users with the correct user names, and their passwords show the correct number of characters, however I can't log in using any of the user/password combinations. Should the path '/foobar/acl_users' been simply '/foobar/' or '/foobar' ? Any suggestions? Thanks, Sean

Don't think that is it because it works fine if I change Zope to port 80. And, I was accessing apache on port 80 using the ip number, localhost, the machine's real name, and the URL domain it just wouldn't rewrite to 8086. nslookup showed name was still set to my ip number. Unicode charset problems dealing with the ZmySQLDA product

Hello. I'm dealing with the ZmySQLDA product on Zope 2.9.7 and Python 2.4.3 versions. I'm having problems when I retrieve data from the database because the data is not rendered using the unicode charset when the zope instance is in a vserver (with a Gentoo Linux distribution), so I get weird characters like 'Ã¡' instead of the usual ones: 'á' (as they are strored inthe db). This is not happening on my local machine, so I guess it could be a bad configuration of the vserver. Is there any possibilities to pass a parameter to the ZmySQLDSA connection to make it use the unicode charset? Which differences are between the _mysql python module and the MySQLdb library for this purpose? Could it be the configuation of the vserver? How can it be relationed with the unicode problems? Any idea? Thanks!!

External Editor Doesn't Work with Firefox

I have External Editor (zopeedit-win32-0.9.3.exe <http://www.plope.com/software/ExternalEditor/zopeedit-win32-0.9.3.exe> ) installed on my WinXP machine. It works fine with my IE6 browser. But with Firefox 2.0, it doesn't. Specifically, with the ZMI running in Firefox, what happens is: 1. I get the stubby pencil icons on editable Zope objects. 2. Clicking on the stubby pencils brings up that page in my selected external editor (currently Dreamweaver, but I have tried this with other tools and the results are the same). So far, so good. 3. But when I save changes from the external editor, the changes don't make it back into Zope, and they don't show up on the rendered pages. a. The changes do show up in the temp file that the external editor saves to. So the problem is not with the external editor's file saving abilities. b. No error messages occur. c. So the problem must be that the EE helper app is not picking up the changes, or is not getting them back to Firefox. My hunch is that I have failed to execute the following step in the External Editor's Windows installation instructions (http://www.plope.com/software/ExternalEditor/install-win32) "You can also register it (zopeedit.exe) with other browsers directly." The reason I haven't done this step is that I can't figure out how to register a helper app in Firefox. After a lot of Googling etc, I'm still stuck. Thanks to the other Jonathan for advising me to try <dtml-in objectIDs> to find why dtml-with was not working as expected with FolderB. When I did that I realized that FolderB was not an actual folder. Rather, it was a Plone instance. One cannot not use <dtml-with> from outside a Plone instance to call up an object inside a plone instance. Therefore I solved my problem in another way using Response.redirect().
