I am pleased to announce the first public release of SQLAlchemyDA V 0.2.0 Download: --------- <http://opensource.zopyx.com/software/sqlalchemyda/releases/0.2.0> What is SQLAlchemyDA? --------------------- SQLAlchemyDA is both a tiny frontend to the z3c.sqlalchemy SQLAlchemy package for Zope 2 and Zope 3. In addition it acts as a database adapter for ZSQL methods. Since it is based on SQLAlchemy, SQLAlchemy supports all databases out-of-the box that are supported by SQLAlchemy. Requirements: ------------- - Zope 2.8 + - SQLAlchemy 0.3.X - z3c.sqlalchemy 1.0.0 + Installation: ------------- - download and install z3c.sqlalchemy as egg or from the sources from Cheeseshop (easy_install z3c.sqlalchemy) - A z3c.sqlAlchemy SAWrapper must be registered. The best way to do this right now to put something like this into your Product's initialize(): Products/YourProduct/__init__.py: def initialize(context): from z3c.sqlalchemy import createSAWrapper, registerSAWrapper wrapper = createSAWrapper('postgres://user:password@host/database', forZope=True) registerSAWrapper(wrapper, 'my-sa-wrapper') - After restarting Zope you go to the ZMI and create an instance of "SQLAlchemy Wrapper Integration" (as you would create some DA instance). After creating the instance you should see 'my-sa-wrapper' in the properties form of the new instance. When creating a new ZSQL method you should be able to use this DA instance as connection id. Using SQLAlchemyDA: ------------------- - for using SQLAlchemyDA through object mappers as used in SQLAlchemy you can use the getMapper() and getMappers() methods. Check the z3c.sqlchemy documentation for details. A SQLAlchemy Session object can be obtained by the getSession() method. Sessions are integrated with Zope 2 transaction management. - a SQLAlchemyDA instance can be used as a standard DA together with ZSQL methods. WARNING: YOU SHOULD NOT USE ZSQL METHODS AND MAPPERS WITHIN THE SAME REQUEST!!! Mappers/Sessions and Connections (for ZSQL methods) are totally independent and have their own transaction. Zope Tutorial not present in Add List

Hi, I've just installed Zope on Windows XP (Zope 2.10.3-final, python 2.4.4, win32). According to the Zope Book (see quote below) there should be an option for me to choose 'Zope Tutorial' from the add list of the root Folder. The only problem is that 'Zope Tutorial' doesn't exist in my installation's add list. What could be wrong? ===== " Zope comes with a built-in tutorial which reinforces some of the concepts you've learned here. As an extension of this book, we recommend that you run the tutorial to get a feel for using basic Zope objects (particularly DTML objects). To use the tutorial properly, your browser should support *JavaScript *and *cookies *. To launch the tutorial, navigate to the root folder and add a Zope Tutorial object by selecting *Zope Tutorial *from the add list. When the add form asks for an "id" for the object, give it the id *tutorial *and click "Add". " =====

I am pleased to announce the first public release of z3c.sqlalchemy V 1.0.0 What is z3c.sqlalchemy? ======================= z3c.sqlalchemy is yet another wrapper around SQLAlchemy. The functionality of the wrapper is basically focused on easy integration with Zope 2 and Zope 3. The wrapper cares about connection handling, optional transaction integration with Zope 2/3 and wrapper management (caching, introspection). z3c.sqlalchemy gives you flexible control over the mapper creation. Mapper classes can be - auto-generated (with or without autodetection of table relationships) - configured by the developer What z3c.sqlalchemy does not do and won't do: ============================================= - no support for Zope 3 schemas - no support for Archetypes schemas z3c.sqlachemy just tries to provide you with the basic functionalities you need to write SQLAlchemy-based applications with Zope 2/3. Higher-level functionalities like integration with Archetypes/Zope 3 schemas are subject to higher-level frameworks. z3c.sqlalchemy does not address these frameworks. modify 'Server' response header

Hi, is there a way to control the 'Server' response header in ZServer like it could be done with the ServerTokens directive in apache? In an apache -> squid -> zope configuration I tried apache's mod_headers but this only works if the page is cached in the browser (304 Not Modified), a browser-reload for example reveals ZServer. Does anyone know how to accomplish this without modifying any zope code? Thanks Jens
