I never put objects of this class in the ZODB because I don't need them to persist, they're just temporary. However, because Entreprises objects need to access to other objects that are in the ZODB, I pass them self as first argument, so that they can use it as a "context" to acquire other objects (for examples, Z SQL Methods). So inside Entreprise code, I can do something like self.context.zsql_method_something... because self.context is a reference to the caller, which lives in the ZODB. The caller is gestionnaireEntrprises. So my question is : what is wrong with that ? Why do I get this InvalidObjectReference ? is it the entreprise object that is in the session ? is it the gestionnaireEntreprises that is stored as an attribute of the entreprise object ? maybe both ? pickle passing over a socket

It seems to me that it could be usefull to have a zope method for passing python pickles to external processes through a unix domain socket. My thinking was to use this as a means to abstract a data base connection. Yes, I know there are zsql methods, sqlalchemy and other products to do this. But my thought was to have a generilzed method for just passing a pickle to an external process that could do anything with it. Perhaps it could pass a pickle to a queue that would handle the pickle if the site need some high volume handling of data. Then one could have another python process listening on the socket -- ready to receive pickles for zope. Does this sound like something that could be usefull -- or is it reduntant with some other feature that zope may have for sending data to external processes? -- David Bear College of Public Programs at ASU 602-464-0424

Volatile attributes are shared across multiple sessions, which is not acceptable for my application. So here's what I cam up with : * 1 : Do not store references to a ZODBish object into a non ZODBish object * And 2 : just pass the context as a parameter to all the non-ZODBish methods that need it. I Tried to avoid this in the first place (hence storing it as an attribute), but putting them in the session broke everything. Cheers.

404 on "/manage" frames with mod_rewrite

Hi folks, I managed to find some good information on putting zope behind apache and using mod_rewrite. This appears to be working fine as long as I'm using a non-framed page (and it works with SSL too). However, when I try to access the site using https://mysite.com/some_zope_page it works, but if I try https://mysite.com/zp/manage, I'm prompted for my zope admin credentials, and once I submit the credentials the framed portions are all 404d. When I check the url for one of the framed pages it looks like this: http://mysite.com:443/manage_workspace. Any idea if it is something I have misconfigured in Apache or is it something I've misconfiguration in Zope? Bernard

hiii, I am using zope-2.8.1 version and i wish to login into zope without facing the login window that zope provides i want to make one DTML page which will be used as login page for ZOPE and when I will enter username and password in DTML page, this information should be used for zope authentication.........ultimately i want one kind of hacking to directly enter into zope .... No, I got it all wrong, it is much simpler than that : I cannot put any ZODB living object into the session, be it a python script, a page template, anything... this is not product specific. So the question is now : is there another way to put some ZODB objects in the session for future use ? because there is no reason to create the same object twice or thrice in my product so I want it to stay in the session. products in client instances

If I have zeo and 3 clients (client1, client2, client2) its seems that it would be convenient to have the Products directory be a symlink to a master products directory. Trying ZODB with a background in RDBMS

Hi all. I'm playing with standalone ZODB at the moment trying to get a better understanding of its use in applications. I come from a PHP/MySQL background, and I'm taking my first steps with Python at the same time. One of the things I'm not understanding about ZODB is assigning incremental IDs to objects. For instance, if I were to be writing a support-ticket system I'd want to give each ticket a unique number, but one that's "human-useable" (otherwise you could just use a UUID - try giving one of those over the phone!). Also, how would one add a new item to the db in this way?
