I'm pleased to announce a new release of Mailinglogger. Mailinglogger provides two handlers for the standard python logging framework that enable log entries to be emailed either as the entries are logged or as a summary at the end of the running process. The handlers have the following features: - customisable and dynamic subject lines for emails sent - emails sent with an X-Mailer header for easy filtering - flood protection to ensure the number of emails sent is not excessive - support for SMTP servers that require authentication - fully documented and tested In addition, extra support is provided for configuring the handlers when using ZConfig, Zope 2 or Zope 3. zeo client tracking

Hello, We're using a zope 2.10 setup with a zeo server and several zeo clients behind lvs. Sometimes, we'd like to track which zeo client handled teh request, and we're going to need it as we'd like to proove that ha-proxy handles session persistance. Minimal server for ZPublisher.Client

Hi, I recently discovered magic of external function dispatching using ZPublisher.Client I use a separate Zope (Plone) instance as an external server, but I wonder what would be a minimal setup to serve a purpose. Do I have to run the whole Zope application? Pawel Lewicki

Deny public access to ZMI

Hello, Is there a straightforward way of defining which IPs are authorized to access to ZMI? I want to block public interface access and allow it only from internal network - VPN. I don't want authentication box to pop up to any single visitor with a browser. It is Zope 2.9.4. As I searched, I came across with docs of how to write scripts to define access rules to the specific folders. Should I go that way and implement an access rule for /manage? Thanks, Ustun

external method

I have the following external method to back up a postgres database, using the following software versions. Zope Version (Zope 2.9.0, python 2.4.2, win32) Python Version 2.4.2 (#67, Sep 28 2005, 12:41:11) [MSC v.1310 32 bit (Intel)] System Platform win32 Zope is running as user scholarpack who is an administrator on win server 2008. / import subprocess def backup(): try: p=subprocess.Popen("c:/scholarpack/postgres/bin/pg_dump scholarpack",shell=True,stdout=subprocess.PIPE) data=p.communicate()[0] f=open('c:/scholarpack/ancillary/scholarpack.sql','w') w=f.write(data) f.close() except OSError: print "There was a problem opening the file for writing" /When I run this through Zope I get an empty file. There are no errors reported. However, if I use the same python that is running zope in an interactive shell and run these commands then it works as expected. Can anyone spot what I am obviously missing? Regards Garry

Hi. I am moving a Web application from a Zope 2.7.8 server to 2.10.7. How do I migrate the users in acl_users from the Zope 2.7.8 server to the 2.10.7 one? Andreas Jung suggested exporting it from the old server and importing in the new. Apparently this worked (although I had to blow away the "acl_users" folder on the new server before I could import the "acl_users" folder from the old server; and I had to use zpasswd.py to create "inituser" and "access" files in my Zope root so that I could access the ZMI to import the acl_users folder.) I have very little experience with Zope so I turn to you guys, is this a totally insane thing I did, or is it absolutely correct and I (and Andreas) should be rewarded? :) I did try using the copy_users.py script but had no luck with it. :( The record of my attempt follows. scope of <dtml-let> tag

Hello All, I faced a parsing error when I used <dtml-if> and <dtml-let>, like below -----some dtml code----- <dtml-if CONDITION> <dtml-let some_function> <dtml-else> <dtml-let other_function> </dtml-if> -----some code------- ------------------------ </dtml-let> The above code gives parsing error about unexpected </dtml-if> It works fine when I give as below <dtml-if CONDITION> <dtml-let some_function> -----some code------- ------------------------ </dtml-let> <dtml-else> <dtml-let other_function> -----some code------- ------------------------ </dtml-let> </dtml-if> Any help on about this behaviour of <dtml-let>. Is there a Zope migration tool?

My Zope 2.10 server tells me: Note: Zope can export/import objects in two dfferent formats: a binary format (called ZEXP) and as XML. The ZEXP format is the officially supported export/import format for moving data between identicial Zope installations (it is not a migration tool). The XML export/import is unsupported (and possibly broken under certain circumstances) - use it at your own risk. I am moving a Web app from Zope 2.7 to 2.10. I exported it from 2.7 and imported to 2.10 and this worked. But then I saw the above note. Is there a migration tool? Where is it, please? Getting Auto Increment value

I am working with zope & mysql. I have a table with SERIAL column type, I create "z-sql method" for insert operation, how can I get the value for the auto increment column? I know that in mysql I can call last_insert_id(), how do I call it, should I create another "z sql method" and if I do, how can I be sure the the value return is for my insert command and not for another. Is there a way to call 2 query from the same "z sql method"? I am really lost on this, any help will be wellcom. Thank in advanced.

ZeoRAID usage in production

Hi, This is mainly a question for Christian, but I'm cc'ing the list as it will be useful knowledge to be generally available. I was looking at this product and thinking about using it in an upcoming assignment. >From the docs: "Keep backups of your data. ZEORaid has good unit test coverage but hasn't seen live action yet, so keep this in mind." - is this still the case? Is anyone else using it at the moment at all for demanding sites? Could you post some stats, experiences and any gotchas at all? How does ZeoRAID cope with the blob storage? Also, what's the timeout for connecting to the zeo storages? Also, I read this bit in the docs: "The RAID server itself remains the last single point of failure in the system. This problem is solved as the RAID server does not maintain any persistent state (except the configuration data: it's listening ip and port and the list of storages). The RAID server can be made reliable by providing a hot-spare server using existing HA tools (taking over the IP when a host goes down) and the existing ZEO ClientStorage behaviour." Is it possible to provide a "pool" of ZeoRAID processes, each talking to the same zeo storages, and put the list of ZeoRAID processes into the client storage configuration so it will round-robin if one is not available?
